Wholly fuck - rapid rooters are crazy! (questions on jiffy pots/rapid rooters/coir)

Clones are a week in, figured there wouldn't be roots until another week.

The jiffy pots didn't have any roots, except for one. The rapid rooters were already rooted! Like every one!

Trying to make sense of why. Clones are in an ebb and flow table that floods twice a day. I'm thinking either:

- the jiffy pots stay wetter than the rapid rooters, which hurts root growth
- the PH is different on the jiffy pots
- the jiffy pots are denser and let in less air

Does anyone know a way to get results as good as with rapid rooters, without using rapid rooters? Rapid rooters are expensive and don't fit into a 2in netpot good. I didn't like them at all, until I saw how crazy-awesome they were at growing roots.

What do you guys use for clones and how long until you see roots?

I'm currently using rapid rooters for my clones, and I think they're awesome.

The difference between rapid rooters and jiffy pellets is the rooters are much more aerated and stay moist much, much longer (a good thing).

The jiffy pellets, while they hold a lot of moisture (mostly because they aren't as aerated and are denser), for some reason dry out MUCH faster, which is bad for clones (if all my research is correct).

I think you can buy a bag of rapid rooters on amazon for pretty cheap.

Rapid rooters are great for clones and germinationg seeds too. It's because it's made to keep just the right amount of moisture and air for the seed/clone. If you haven't germ'd seeds in it yet, it's awesome. Just soak them for 4-6 hours and stick them in the RR. Easiest I've ever done too.

the rapid rooters are already ph'ed so you don't have to do that either. I love them. I use rapid rooters and I have roots in 7 days. when i root with just soil it takes 2 weeks.

the jiffy pellots retain to much moisture and rot the stem or seed

I just don't get it - the rapid rooters and the jiffy pots both looked soaked, but the rapid rooters have TONS of roots and the jiffy pots don't have shit.

Just sucks I didn't know how bad jiffy pots were - starting to think I fucked up a lot of clones. Best case, they'll just take twice as long to root, but I'm starting to expect quite a bit of loss with the jiffy pots.

*maybe* jiffy pots would work if the ebb and flow could be setup to flood way less, like once every three days. Guessing the best bet is just to throw the jiffy pots out though and not worry anymore about them - as it stands they probably just cost me about three-five thousand dollars... I literally almost want to cry / throw up -- these were supposed to be better than rockwool, looking like they are either worse or the same.

I honestly think you are being too hard on yourself, taking a seed a little longer to root because of a different medium is definitely nothing that will hurt your yield. I guarantee if you transplanted them into the same medium (rapid rooter/jiffy pellet - after both are rooted) you would see nearly identical growth
