why are some of my big leaves turning yellow?? pics

hey guys,

i have two plants outdoors that are doing fairly well. i found two seeds in some headies i bought around january. these plants are both about two feet tall and have been doing well. i live in the md, pennsylvania, wv area....these plants were in one gallon buckets but i transplanted them to these (prob 2-2.5 gal)....overall they seem healthy but some of my bigger leaves are turning yellow. i just take them off since i read that the plant wastes valuable resources trying to refurbish the dieing leaves. i didnt give them any nutes until about a week ago i put 4 cylinders of miracle grow plant food spikes. they are 6% nitrogen, 12% phosphorus, and 6% potash.....i had been getting yellow leaves before so it is not from the nutes...any ideas or is this just normal??

ok, so i went to post the pics and it said rollitup.org cannot post them because one of the security tokens is missing??? wtf

I get the "security token" message sometimes. To get around this, just download only one (1) pic at a time. It can be a pain. It's the website, not you.

If your plants are 2 feet tall, and you've added nutes for the first time just one week ago, then the yellowing leaves you are seeing are probably signs of nute deficiency. The nutes you've described appear more suited for flowering stage. You should have a higher nitrogen ratio during the vegging process. Do you have access to some fish emulsion (5-1-1)? Best of luck!

yea i used those nutrients because they are for flowering, ad because my plants just showed their sex i assumed they are going into the flowering stage....where do you get fish emulsion???

here is my lady standing behind my green lady which is not seeing any yellowing of the flowers...in the last week it has shown signs of female....does this mean it is entering the flowering stage??

Yep, if the female pistils have appeared, then full-blown flowering is going to gradually take place. I didn't realize you were already at the flowering stage, but given the time of year and your location, I should've guessed. You can get fish emulsion at Home Depot, Lowes, gardening stores, drug stores, etc. I used miracle gro's fish emulsion on my plant. My understanding is that you want to keep as many of those fan leaves on the plant as long as possible, so it can't hurt to give it a boost of N. In any event, all your ladies look lovely. :)
