Why are some plants stunted and others are not?

I have seven Super Lemon Haze, five of them are from seed from Attitude, all the same batch. Two are from clones. Two or three of them look stunted, compared to the rest; in fact, they are smaller and scrawnier looking than the clones. The two clones were from topping. All are growing in kicked up soil and being fed with good nutes.

What I'm asking is "Why do you think these 2-3 are stunted?" If you have experience in solving this, I am really interested in hearing what you have to say. +rep for usable advice.

You did something wrong?

There are too many variables for someone to be able to tell you the difference from 2 paragraphs...

Maybe the nutes were not completely mixed, more light for certain plants, soil consistency, plant diseases, over watering, under watering... Seriously, there is no way to tell.

1 part nutes, outside grow, Subcool's Super Soil, not overwatered, not underwatered. All things are equal; some are great and some are stunted, plain and simple. Anyone that has ever grown much knows this happens.

It may just be bad genetics, everytime you make a seed crop the genetics vary so it may just be the breeder and not you.

No, that's the strange part; the clones are growing like crazy. They are 2-3 times the size of the dwarfs that I started from seed and the ones that I cut the clones from (tops) are twice the size of the clones. I was thinking it's probably just bad genetics. I'm not a breeder so I don't know if this is typical or not.

I recently started a bagseed grow 12 plants, all came up within 2 days of each other.Four sprouted, got to an inch tall and stopped doing anything, one got to 2inches tall stopped growing up started growing outwards never got any taller!2 are growing like crazy one 14 inches tall, one 12 inches tall with fat leaves the size of my hand! One looks sickly and is 4 inches tall the rest are healthy and 6 inches tall. The funny thing is they all came from the same bag,all got exactly the same treatment,so as jollytime says its all in the seed!

Just for shits and giggles I will throw something out that I thought about yesterday. What if there is some little hidden vermin critters in the soil that is munching on the roots or hindering the roots from uptaking the nutes? I may douche the soil of one of the stunted plants really good with a liquid insecticide and see what happens. I think I will take more pix of my grow and post them today.

i read 1 of the bibles quiet some time back and it said in there that you will always get seeds that are weaker than the others and that don't have the same drive to grow the same way, i grew out 5fem blue cheese last grow and had 1 dodgy plant i left it in with the other 4 and it fell way behind in growth during the 12/12 flip but i left it in there anyway i got 1/2oz off it and 3 1/2 oz off each plant, i got 22 on the go now all from seed and so far have 3-4 weak plants that aren't keeping up i'll throw these in the greenhouse for a while and if they don't improve i'll chuck them i learned after last time it's not worth keeping them they simply take light from the healthy plants and block light to the lower branches i'd give them a wk or 2 and if they haven't improved unless you got the spare room i'd throw them being sentimental last run cost me bud not a mistake i'll make again and the dodgy plant smoked ok but the bud wasn't as good the healthy plants produced

It's a great way of "weeding out" all the not so great plants.

Only clone from the plants that are growing the best as the clones will be exactly the same. :)

W Dragon, you're right about tossing the inferior plants; I've come to that same conclusion. I think maybe growing off some plants from seed then taking clones from the best one/ones and keeping the grow going with clones. I think that is what I'm going to do from now on. Piss on these fussy little bitches; the others are doing incredible and I'm not touching them. Of course, it seems like when I just leave them alone they do better than when I hover over them and nurse them.

Exactly, I can attest to this first hand......I have a multiple strains going.....I chose 2 Violator Kush to take cuttings from. 1 Mother ened up having uniform clones, they look and grow almost identical. The other Mother (which I ended up not using any more) gave me clones that were different rooting times, growth times and bud development)

The stability is genetic, its either there or it isnt.
