why aren't they sprouting?

i germinated 5 seeds and planted them, root face-down, about 5-6 days ago. i don't know why they aren't sprouting. did i plant them too early? i leave em outdoors all the time. is it too cold? the lows are running around 55 degrees F around here for the lows. highs are in the low to mid 70's. i don't know why they aren't sprouting. they just ran out of water today and i rewatered them. WHY AREN'T THEY SPROUTING, GOD DAMMIT?!?

on a side note, i've been using grasscity and that site kinda sucks in comparison to rollitup. i thought you guys were shut down. whew!

The cold my have slowed them down ... wait a few days

no the cold wouldent of, they can grow in 5C. how far down did you plant them in the soil? cause just give it some more time maybe they will poke there heads up, usually doesent take that long but its only spoz to be one inch under the soil. Wait it out a bit more see what happens.

i've had them take weeks.

I dont germinate in soil...I use a 'wee water bath', and they usually sprout by 2 weeks.....temp is from 10-35 degrees...

Should check on em'....I got mould a few times on my seeds... I pitched em out though, I assumed they were screwed

I don't germinate in soil either. Use paper towel method. You can see the results. Put the paper towel inside either zip lock bag or tupper ware so if you space it out and forget they don't dry out.


Seeds can be placed between folded, wet paper towels that are kept moist and warm in an area between 70-85 degrees, such as on the top of the refrigerator. After a period of 48 hours to 2 weeks, the vast majority of viable seeds will crack open with a white root tip emerging. At this point, the seed is gently placed in the growing medium approximately 1/2 inch deep with the root tip pointed downward.
