I think that people who focus on de-humanizing others for whatever reason (religious, ethnic, socio-economic, etc) need to feel empowered because they have deep personal/ideological deficiencies. People who live healthy, well-rounded and productive lives tend to reach out and lift up their fellow man.

A lot of people say that racism is caused by ignorance or fear. People generally don't like to be referred to as ignorant or fearful, much less stereotyped and thusly I place this bullshit canard in the same category as any other attempt to intimidate/humiliate/manipulate others. Indeed, trumpet-up accusations of racism can destroy careers, families, and lives.

Both sides of the race issue embarrass themselves in my eyes. There is no need whatsoever to denigrate others based on skin color, and at the same time people should bear full personal responsibility for their choices in life, just like I do.

nice post airwave. the only thing I can add is that only thing european/white people have done that was never done b4 was to stand up for another race and say slavery is wrong! the US fought a civil war between brothers to free another race.can anyone name a race that went to war to free another race from slavery?

Its instinctual, humans are tribal by nature. It starts out small, my street against your st., my school against your school, my state against your state, my country against yours, my race against yours. Sad but true. Human nature will not change. There will always be an enemy.

Just wait till its my Planet against your planet.... Then things will get interesting. Even then there will be those for and those against the aliens. just sayin.

Im not 100% sold on there even being aliens, but I allow for the possibility.

You know what's crazy....im black and I used to chill at this spot alot of white boys would go mudding. Alot was racist but when I pulled out Dat blunt full of lovely green they would pull out their beer and well for that one night they just didn't seem so racest anymore

This was a pretty cool post.

I have to tell this now.

I'm from south fl.Been up in the sticks though for a # of yrs.We didn't have rednecks where i grew up so moving up here was like culture shock.I was like what the fuck is Copenhagen??

I'm 16,mom and i stop at a hardees to grab a quick bite.I'm getting out of our car and see 2 rednecks/crackers/hillbillys what ever getting into a huge big bad ass muddin truck,rebel flag tinted on the back window and all.

And low an behold as he is backin out of his parkin spot he hit his cd player.

I was very confused to see what i was seein and then to hear some serious bump and knock comin from that truck.Home boy was rockin Too Short.I looked in aw.

not all rednecks are racist. my best friend is a redneck, actually. he hates obama with a passion, has a basement full of guns, owns a truck and many rebel flags. but like I said, he's my best friend, obviously he's not racist. Things are getting better in respect to race. But I can see why you were surprised :). Also, seems to me like rap is the new hot thing. I mean it's been that way for a while, but the masses of college kids, no matter the race, love rap. Even shitty rap, they don't care. It's the cool thing, apparently. So that may also be part of what you observed.
