Travelling as a youth is the best thing you can do to broaden your mind. Of course, be thankful that you have the liberty and privilege to do so. I'm from "the scheme" which is council housing (government subsidised rent basically) and most of us couldn't rub two pennies together. I had to join the Forces for three years to get the cash to go around the world, but it was definitely worth it.

They used to send ya around the world with a rifle on yer back, while on the back of the navy. I was lucky mate. Served most of my time catching pints of Stella for the Queen in the South of England and then I got double pay teaching German conscripts how to join fibre over in camp Mannheim with the yanks. Great bunch of guys.
Happily enough, HM Forces finally caught me smoking herb back in 2001 and when I went to go tell my Staff Sergeant why I was called to to OC's office, everyone was watching the WTC getting hit by some planes. Buggers took my bootlaces from me in case of suicide, but felt comfortable enough to give me two glow sticks and send me over to Brize Norton to help guide in all the passenger jets that were being turned back from the US.
Still laughing about the madness of that one. But aye, thank the many gawds that I didn't have to actually earn my pennies.

When I dropped out of college & my father tossed me & I was exploring options I actually took tests to enlist in the Army
They said with my scores I would be suitable for Helicopter school with the possibility of piloting one
