It was Positivity that showed me and encouraged me to start building my own. I guess that makes him one of the founding fathers.

the only problem is now I am addicted to building lights, searching for that magic spectrum which is a practical implementation of the sun, and my love for deep red supplementation.
Yep. Always wanted to diy but never thought I could handle it till pos stepped up [with supra and sds] and showed everyone what you can do with new tech. And don't forget some originials- Chronikool and guod taking the time to solder stars for entire arrays...

Pos and I have very similar Sq ft, which inevitably led to our LEDs being similar. I've always felt bad, it was never an intentional thing (not to mention his and i's mutual feelings about spectrum..)

...but the important part is, I give credit where it's due- I'm still figuring out a metal brake to make a case and arduino temp readings, and guess what. As soon as I do I'll be thanking pos, sds, guod and salo. Not only does it kind of make up for appearing too similar to another grower (whether that be a problem or not, I don't like looking like that especially in reference to a friend- yes, Pos is one of few I would open my door to) but it let's people know, this isn't new, it's always been possible-it's a matter of getting off our asses and finding it,

so thank you for helping me stay comfy posi! Lol hope you're living well brother

Dude...copy that sh@t.....in fact do it better, lots of room for improvement in everything I've ever done here. I put my simple unprofessional stuff up so people can see that its doable.
All this stuff going on is about something else. I can see it....i'm sure others can too.

I mean....everyone saw this coming. Twas' just a matter of time....

All this shared drama we are going to need to sit back and burn one..one day.

Looking back...remember when i had no clue where to start. I mentioned my earliest influences. Knnas posts made something that looked extremely complicated possible. Big thanks to him for everything that he provided. Used to read his posts for hours trying to put two and two together. From what i remember supra was right there in the beginning also...hes been doing a good thing for a long time. And of course sds and goud....the true masters of electronics.

All i did was find the best leds out and put them to work.

:peace:

You sir are absolutely correct with the cookie cutter design and I'm not a god I'm just a guy who ran with the whole idea and turned it up a notch with Kingbrite just face it the great prices we have for them now is due to me. So when you guys buy them you'll be thinking about me lol. I know that some of you are still butt hurt but get over it. Genes thank for the flattery. I am very loud lol. Btw which grow license will you be getting because I'm gonna apply for the 5000 sq/ft and under when they are available. I'm still reading up on the new bills that passed.
I have been getting better prices than kingbrite from arrow since before you even found kingbrite. And now play in a whole different league of getting chips. So, no, I don't use kb, or have issues getting any order code. I have bought 12 cobs from kb, only to see what the deal was. Never mentioned riu or you, and got them for 2$ less than you were advertising at.
I and a couple people said we don't usd kb cause we get better prices at standard verified distributors for whatever reason or another...and you went on a flashy spree as usual and posted a bunch of threads about them. No one ever said anything bad about jerry...you're the one that has caused any kind of negative vibes about kb in threads. Is what it is, apparently that is how one sells a saw and/or blades.
Jerry's been great for the diy game. But trust me, I'm not missing out, so don't worry about me.

Licence depends on a few things but 3a is the goal. Been planning things for 3 years, now with this legislation, it can happen in CA.

I knew it there animosity with you towards me why? I am who I am and you don't really know where I'm really coming from but don't really care. You for some reason has always be funny acting towards me but it's all good. I don't care how you feel. You are just mad because I'm fucking up your program and you know what I mean. My cookie cutter design is only $700 to make and it uses 8 CXB3590's. My diy is free and already people are doing it instead of buying them. Go figure but I'm a dick for sharing what I've learned. What have I really done so bad for this attitude?

The "animosity" has been quite clear and never something in the dark. It has nothing to do with what you're doing...it is how you do it. Keep playing dumb, but you're not fooling me.
I have a video specifically on building modules. As well as a thread full of builds and grows on on just cobs that everyone is hot on. Then I have hps grows, outdoor grows, induction, apache grows, apache vs hps, and more to come. Plus the regular forum threads...cause I've never helped anyone on here have I. I have no program other than growing and showing just as I always have. You're the one who seems like they have a program. But now thanks to you...I just had an idea that will help everyone, and piss you off all at once. Stay tuned.

I'm not hating. Who else isn't hating?

Anyway, back to the original topic of the thread; I'm not disputing the potential for the use of various monochromatic light sources to affect the plant in certain ways. It could even be cost effective from a production standpoint in certain instances, who's to say until the territory has been thoroughly explored?

However, what if the idea of using drastically different spectra for veg and bloom were to be 'debunked' by someone using the same COB at the very same color temperature for both veg and bloom?

Okay, not debunked- I just conceded the point that plants can be manipulated with the mix of wavelengths given to them. But how about a monoCOB from clone to chop as a baseline for the various spectrum altering strategies to be measured against?

When I read about people's experiments with lighting I'm always asking myself if they'd done the same run without the tweak... and what the differences were, both qualitatively and quantitatively.

The only way to really answer that question is to have some baseline to compare it to. What better baseline than a crop grown from cutting on up under the same COB?

I'm already doing something of the sort; I'm vegging under HPS and blooming under CDM. Others are running CDM from seedling to chop in commercial production, so this isn't a new idea.

Honestly, I'm just sick of paying so damned much to the power company, so the idea of highly efficient COBs totally replacing every HID I have is pretty attractive!

@ttystikk I can not wait to see the transition from your CDM/HPS to a full scale COB set up. I have been following your post for a time now and it is quite impressive. I am just a grow nerd who likes seeing how others do their thing. Your heat pump things sounds cool.

I feel like much of the hard work and proof of theory has for the most part been done by others here. Every time I dig deeper into old threads I learn more. I make my decisions based on how people present their ideas. I am by no means an innovator, I am a good listener. When someone makes sense I emulate it.
All I want is to grow the best Cannabis I can as efficiently as possible. You seem to be cut from the same cloth.

After 25 years of growing, I think my only real original idea was adding Nepalese yak semen to my soil mix. It is expensive unless you extract it yourself. You have to be gentle because them buggers can kick hard.

Cheers,
Will

I'll leave the yak semen extraction in your more than capable hands, brother!

Thanks for the (other) kind words, and you are correct that many ideas that seem new are in fact old ones. What I've found that's keeping my interest is that the combining of basic technologies has NOT been thoroughly explored as yet, so I believe there are opportunities for progress in systems design.

I'll keep you posted. Meanwhile, please post some yak semen milking photos, so those who wish to follow in your footsteps will know what they're taking in hand... as it were.

It is all in the wrist.
Next time I am in Nepal I will do a photo tutorial. For now if anyone wishes to read up on the subject this excellent paper by LUO XIAO LIN is step in the right direction. http://www.archanimbreed.com/pdf/2001/at01si1p138.pdf

Why do some guys want still to have some black pepper in their chilli ?
Chilli peppers are one thing ...
Black pepper is another ...

Phosphor Conversion COB LED arrays are made for human vision purposes ...
Monochromatic LED units can be used to " pinpoint " certain actions & effects ,in many different
commercial , industrial ,military or other applications ,including horticulture in many different aspects ,
like :
Space horticulture , bio research & study ,greenhouse supplementary lighting, artificial lighting for urban growing facilities ,indoor green walls and gardens and quite few more ...

Back to chilli pepper and black pepper combo ...
You want some " spicy stuff " ?
Then better to have 'em both ..

Edit : Although I'm a "pure white light " LED grower ,still that does not change the fact that
monochrome LEDs used along with phosphor conversion COB LEDs ,can give the
best results in every possible attribute or aspect, regarding the "final product " .
So ,naturally ,I voted for " Yes, It will work great " .
Cause that's the plain 'n straight truth ...
.-

Cheers.

Thank you for stopping by and explaining things right instead of being all pissed of and offended by my opinion. What if you used top bin CXB3590 2700 like CD or DB would that help?

If you pay attention to the thread where you learned how to build your light you'd see that 2700k alone will open up the structure of the strain versus something like 4000k

A good thing for a blue dream that is prone to bud rot...
a bad thing for a sour diesel that looks like a airy sativa all of a sudden...

Maybe in a mix..
hmmm..what if you could boost red without so much far red? or maybe its the blue...nevermind..
