Why do we de-chlorinate water, just to re-add chlorine to sterilize the res?

Honestly speaking. Current Culture recommends 2-5 the whole way through. But if you ran it 0.5 - 1ml, I doubt you would have any issues if everything is clean and sterile. If you see things start to build up, just bring it by 0.25 until you notice a difference.
I’m not sure if going under the recommendation was basically wasting it, I didn’t want to go up to 2, I just quit using it. Then I visited pool shock like mentioned above, then said screw it all. Maybe I will try the 2ml/gal this time and see if I can notice a difference with the plants, I have it on hand anyways. Sorry for the hijack, figured it’s relevant info to the topic.
