Why do we have to dry the buds after harvest?

As we all know the last stage of the game is stringing up your buds and pointing a fan at them for about a week. I've know of this and be aware that it's something I was going to have to do. But I was thinking about it the other night...why do we do this? what is it that drying the buds accomplishes? thanks!

you wont be able to keep it lit very well when it's wet. that's the biggest thing. many say it help with taste and potentcy as well... all really a matter of personal preference in my opinion.

You need to dry (cure) so that the sugars break down in the bud. Sugar gives you a headache when smoked and a sore throat. If you don't believe me try rolling a j with some fresh leaves from one of your plants (or bud if you want to waste it) and get ready to cough, have a sore throat and if you keep smoking you will get a headache. bThe longer you cure the less sugar is left behind.

i've vaporized wet weed while trimming my harvest. it comes thru "steamy" and only burns the trichs. the weed is wet so it doesn't vaporize. it's smooth on the throat because of the moisture in it.

yeah mold is a big reason and you want it to light, also smokeable thc content continues to get higher as it cures. plus you want the chloraphyl...did i spell that right...to disapate. can you give me one good reason not to dry it? what the hell kinda question is this? late

I knew it was something you have to do, I'm not in anyway saying that you shouldn't, I just didn't know the actual reason why you cur it.

i remember reading in a high times once, that this guy figured out a way to put a bud straight off the plant and smoke it. he had this glass tube that had a stop in it, put 2 holes on either side, one for airflow and the other had a tube hooked up to it. he would drop the bud down inside, and use a heat gun, not a hair dryer or anything, but needs to be a true heat gun, and it would treat it basically about the same way as a vapourizer.
