why does alcohol sink in mixed drinks?

Is it just me or does it seem like the last few sips off of any mixed drink is more stiff (has more alcohol) (more of a kick) then the first half.

I ask this because alcohols have a lower density (should float in water) then water. Why then does it seem that it sits on the bottom of your drink??

LOL. well sorry, i am high.

what it now says and should have said was:

Alcohol has a lower density so it should float on water, like ice floats because ice has a lower density as well.

Try drinking with a straw... Then you're drink should taste relatively the same from start to finish provided it was well stirred to start.
