Why is it that the pothead sub-culture shuns other drugs?

I have often wondered this. In my town, many potheads - or naturalists/herbalists - like to look down upon shroom, cacti, e, coke, etc, users and i was wondering where this came from. I am actually considering writting a paper on this for self interest. Why is this the attitude of many potheads?

idk but I've kinda noticed that here with any pills that aren't ex. like okay opiates are soo bad but you'll pop 3 ex pills, eat a few grams of shrooms, and smoke a fat blunt but OC's are sooo bad? In my "Community" people don't shun any drugs except for crack, well unless your addicted then you better stop or you'll be looked down upon.

edit: almost forgot to add *ingest a few tabs while your at it*

I wont touch most other drugs cept for a few..


But most of that I think stems from the fact you can't OD on pot, and isn't as harmful as all those others..

weed, shrooms and cacti are grown naturally and don't require any extra additives and/or chemicals to produce and consume.

just grow it and eat it, like fruits or vegetables. and they aren't fatal which is a huge plus. that's why i stick to the natural stuff.

i think some marijuana activists look down on shrooms and cacti because of all those government studies that say those drugs will make you go insane or destroy your brain. just like the government studies on weed saying that it's as bad as heroin and all that bullcrap.

yeah i personally only smoke the herb...no drink no drugs just herb....im ok with shrooms also but havent done them for years....now my position on other drugs comes from experience...ive done everything from shoot heroin to smoke crack and meth and all kinds of pills..this was in my late teens and early twenties and ive never seen any good come from it..just jail, broken families and death....the herb for me is truly spiritual and medicinal....

drugs are addictive... pot... not so much... plus i lost fam to drinking..... so far i'm okay on the herb

Ive done weed, shrooms, and acid. Anything else is on my no-no list. And acid any more frequently than twice a year is a no-no for me too.

I prefer shrooms over acid though. For me, its the exact same trip, and shrooms are natural.

pot just isnt as bad, in perspective, you cant OD, and its not chemically engineered, which just seems better doesnt,

shrooms and cacti arent that bad either

My big thing with cocaine is not really the drug itself, used in moderation I'm sure it's safe, and by moderation I mean like a few times a year at most for special occasions. It's the history behind it, what lives were ruined to get this drug to me... we all know where cocaine comes from and we all know how those people operate. I refuse to support cartels, the violence they are known for should shun anyone away if you look at it deeper than the drug itself, in my opinion. Unless you just don't care about people. I care about people.

Yeah and a few countries suffer over the whole coke issue too, the coca leaf from what they have found isn't anywhere near is harmless but cocaine is what ruined it.

Yeah, the violence and such is the big deal I have against any of those drugs then someone using it... I'm for someone enjoying what they enjoy, but don't like pushing it on kids and such as well.

you cant od on acid but you can lose your mind and go insane
btw when i said other drugs are scummy i meant meth crack and heroin
im all about try everything once but i doubt i will ever do any of those three drugs, because i look down on them.........they are drugs for junkies.........im a stoner/tripper

ive tried my fair bit of stuff, but always find myself going back to weed

the others are just too involved, i guess you could say. My personality doesnt work well with other recreational drugs and my common sense is too strong to want to try opiates/meth

ignorance and self-righteousness....

i laugh when people say marijuana isn't a drug... i just read some post on RIU where some guys girlfriend/wife would let him grow at home because "marijuana isn't a drug"

i laugh when people say "i've never used drugs" and have a cup of coffee or a beer in their hand... hell, aspirin and tylenol are drugs...

Very very true. A cup of coffee is worse for you than smoking bud. Lol.
