why is my location needed in the app ?

I have an AC INFINITY smart outlet. controller model 75. It has an app to control it or monitor it.
This app runs off bluetooth.
When I run the app it tells me that I must turn on the location on my phone.
I am not paranoid. I am well within the law.
It just bothers me, WHY ?
I probably have 20 devices that run off bluetooth.
None of them need me to have my location on in order to work.
It is not a question of range. It does it standing directly in front of the control.
Am I the only one ?
Any suggestions or comments are welcome.
I just want to understand.
Thanks

Bluetooth can be used to guess your location.

When you allow Bluetooth access it can scan all devices. If you cross reference the devices found with a database that has information on location and name of bluetooth devices you can find a rough location. Not as precise as GPS but good enough to give you an ad for the store down the street.
