Why my pot tasted/smelled like grass

Humidity was my problem folks. Any of you guys reading the harvesting and curing tuorials on here check your humidity if baffled as to why your pot tastes and smells like grass after you just smelled a plethora of scents for the last 8-12 weeks flowering the bitch out. I struggled with my first harvest because of this, I added a humidifier and the buds are night and day. I had never checked the humidity (it wouldnt register when I finally did!) and after i added the humidifer (plus winter is DRY, so the RH has came up naturally too) and it has solved my dilema of grassy pot. Hopefully this may help someone if they used the search bar for this.:weed:

It's been common knowledge for a long time that if a crop dries to quickly it will smell and taste like hay or lawn clippings. If someone wants the best flavor and odor they will do their best to keep conditions as consistently as possible somewhere within the following ranges, temperature should be between 65-75 degrees F, relative humidity should be between 45%-55%.

If you go beyond those ranges, especially for more than a very short period of time, flavor and odor will suffer .... and then of course you need a LONG cure to finish the job of making your herb all that it can be.

I cured some for 2 months and it slightly developed the floral aroma it should've had, but it was really faint. I had a thermometer and never paid attention to the humidity, and for being common knowledge it commonly slipped right past me :) I guess I was just elated because I finally got to smoke a few buds that has a taste and texture.

Ya, I think I might have dried mine a little too fast?? But I had mold issues with the last batch and I was thinking that I would rather have it dried out than have moldy bud.... It has a danky smell when you rip it open, when you open the jar it smells like grass clippings,...

I think I caught it just in time though and now I have them in jars. I pulled one of the buds out and cracked the stem but It didn't crack, instead it was spongy so I guess there is still moisture in the bigger buds.

Any help would be great at this point! ...

Was this a problem in your grow room? Or just after you put the buds in jars? Not allowing the buds to dry long enough before putting them into jars can mold your buds.
If you're breaking the nuggs open and it has scent then you should be okay, just make sure you cure them nice and slow and burb your jars and in a few weeks it should be where you want it. I cured for 2 months and whether you put it through a grinder or by hand the scent and taste was lost forever. Stone you right now, but not pleasurable for sure.

Thanks for the reply.. I never have mold on the plant itself, because I have too many fans in there. And the temps still dry the soil in about a day and a half.

It was because I after about 4 days of burping, I thought it was good and wasn't going in there every 4 hours. I missed a whole day and then the next night came up and my girlfriend was like, "Hey, whats all the moldy looking stuff in that jar up there?"

But, I also realized that we have been having mold issues in the apartment, and I had the jar open in the cabinet for hours, so it probably got direct mold spores in it and then I closed them in there???? :?: :dunce:
