Why politics on a weed forum?

My guess is people are taking action to prevent authoritarian fascism and the tide of propaganda and misinformation while enjoying coffee and Wake N Bake. We also get and give advice, share the love of animals, and have fun making jokes. The threat of the end of our democracy, book banning, & death threats to civil servants, etc is too much.

Politics is stressful and weed (growing and smoking) imo is to relax and feel better. Smoking helps my ulcerative colitis and stress makes me have worse symptoms. I come to this forum to keep a grow journal and look at other people's grows which is relaxing. I understand there is international conflict as well as political unrest here in the US and issues can't be ignored forever but why mix it with weed except smoking to forget about it for a bit? I'm not saying a weed site shouldn't have a politics section. I am just curious why different people like to talk politics on a weed site?
I have my own health issues and prefer not to hear about yours
See how that works for ya ?

Participation is optional, you can avoid it entirely and just stick to the grow forums if you want.
That is what I will be doing, you wont see me in any other politics posts. Again not say there shouldnt be a politics section, I was just curious as to what motivates people to do thing I wouldn't.

It works fine for me. You can avoid my posts or block me and not see my posts at all if that's what you would like to do. I will be avoiding the politics section. Was just a curiosity why people mix them.

Because people like to be part of a group and support said group. Idiotic at best but that's how we humans operate. Focusing on nonsense and getting first in line instead of doing positive change and actual work in terms of supporting life and natural beauty.

I stay out of politics but people seem to like it and I support everyone along their way as long as they're not trying to force their shit on me and my close family and friends.

Do folks still post grow threads on RIU? I didn't realize that. I'm just here for the tunes, but since politics is a part of life, I will occasionally give my opinion.

One of the great things about legal weed is the dilution of “ stoner culture”. I like weed but almost none of the styles that have been associated with it, and am glad to ignore conformist pressure. Judge my weed use by my weed, not my clothes or music or other collateral identifiers.

In my area looking like a stoner gets you put in jail. Bible belt and all. I do have some wild Amish up the road. I saw the youth drinking fountain beverages at the local gas station. The reggae reference was it must be logical to have only weed music on a weed site. I like most music except country rap. It's popular locally. Trucks and country rap.

To me, late Romantic symphonic bombast is weed music. I don’t listen to much popular music these days.
