Why post if you have nothing positive to say?

I have been a member of RIU for 18 months and in that time have helped numerous people and got involved in numerous threads all for the right reasons, I admit that on occasions I havent suffered fools gladly but have never jumped into a thread just to start an argument or make someone look stupid. I feel that there are too many people who only post on here to start a cyber-ruck, Is it just me or do any of you think the same, I dont want names named just wondering if others notice certain members just jumping in to say 'your wrong, I'm right' and totally disregarding the ops original Q.:?:

I see a lot of experienced newbs having a pissing match to see who knows more, when most don't know what they're talking about. I think its a hormonal thing

Because with the advent of the internet, decency goes right out the window with anonymity. You can be a asshole all you want and don't have to worry too much about repercussions(being banned is about the worst that can happen)

I love the ignore function!

Anyways, I agree with this to a certain extent. I think it's fine to disagree with a thread's OP and to post about different views, but I hate it when people jump into a thread to say "This thread is pointless, why are you all wasting your time?" It's like, if the thread is so pointless, why are you wasting YOUR time?

I'll admit that I have at times been tempted to post something like that when I've seen threads that are almost painfully pointless...but I stop myself, and I figure posting in it will just keep it going longer.

Yes I started using the ignore button a few days ago as this guy just kept popping up in every thread I was in and just cutting and pasting crap that meant nothing on the whole...

Hemlock, could you do me a favor? And everyone else in this thread for that matter. Could you please NOT quote him? When you quote him it shows up in YOUR post, because I don't have YOU on ignore, and I have to read his bullshit.

Plus it makes it harder for the mods to clean up, because they delete his posts, but it stays in YOUR post.

He must hate that girl...damn
lol, he can't hate me, he doesn't even know me.

I hope he doesn't hate me anyways. i mean, hate is a strong emotion, it means you CARE about the other person enough to hate them. I don't want internet trolls caring about me

sometimes it is hard for some to get the intimations in a statement because they cant hear tone of voice in type. so they pick at the minutia(tiny stuff) in your words and generally miss the main point
