Why so cheap? Help a noob buy a good light.

Im looking at mh/hps lights and i wanna go with a good unit (400 watt) air cooled for a grow tent (5ft by 5ft by 4 ft tall)

subbed for this one. All i can think of is the fan included is a bit weak. it looks like a pc fan to me and you would want more than that blowing in your reflector. Look into the switchable ballasts, they are nice.

hey man. I got two Sunsystems 150watt S55 Ballast HPS light systems.. for a total of 300 watts and they do great man.

I think I paid a total of like $170 total for both lights.. they both came with bulbs installed already as well. Pretty good deal.

Broken down, I think individually it would have costed me around 2 bills if I would have bought them individually.

I deff see the pluses of a digital balast. Just gotta buy a 4in inline fan (anyone reccomend a good quiet one?) a good filter and the 5 by 5 by 4 tent. Looking like 600 dollars.

First of all, there is no reflector; that's a *must have* and very expensive. My suggestion is to check out your local hydro shop; I've found them to give the best deals on lights. I bought the 200 dollar ebay 6in air cooled, sealed light. mh/hps digital ballast and all. And yes it has a reflector.

Ecoplus makes fans that look like that. The 6" fan actually pushed 200+ cfm.

You're looking at an area of 25sq/ft. even with the grow tent your getting 16 watts per square. The recommended is 40+ per sq/ft. Your 400 will flower your plants, but with minimal yield at such small height. Also with your low ceiling height; heat will also be a factor so going more watts in HID isn't cheap or practical. I would take the pot pimps advice and go to your local hydro shop and consider T5 fluorescent. Maybe ebay like somebody said but i'm new to medically friendly states and haven't bought grow equip there but once (shit). But there's no cooling needed, low wattage, and you don't have to keep your plants a foot away from them in a 4ft high tent. Just my opinion, i love hps, but not burnt leaves. Peace brotha
