Why Start Plants Indoors Under Fluoros? First Grow Plan.

Grow Plan

10 Regular Lowryder #2
10 Regular Lowryder Purple Jems
Fox Farms Nutes (big bloom, tiger bloom, grow big)
2 Gallon Square pots for each plant

Pollinating One Lowryder #2 Plant
Whatever Organic Potting Soil I Can Find

Questions

1. Why is it advantageous to start them off in peat plugs indoors under flouros? What if i just plant the seedlings outdoors, inside peat plugs?

2. Any advice for a beginner is welcome.

3. What is your favourite method to pollinate plants? Please be specific cause i really do not want to mess up. When do i harvest the seeds? How do i collect the male pollen? How long can i keep male pollen sterile for?

4. When can i start feeding them my FF nutes?

you would start inside to get them strong for outside conditions. start em off inside for about 2 weeks then after that you can start putting them outside, and giving them 1/4-1/2 strength nutes. not too sure about pollination though.

1. For sure bet if you start indoors with CFl's...could die outside when so small from various elements. 2. Both strains due around 8 weeks...outdoors might be longer as I have seen from grows on the ut_be with auto-flowering species (ligh cycles). I would veg. inside until they sex, then put outdoors for flowering...imo. 3. put in dirt and keep wet...4. Around week 3, starting with 1/4 strength.

k, i will keep them indoors as long as they need, i just wanna make it clear though that im only using fluoro lights indoors. so can they last until sexed under fluoros indoors?

K will do, I also heard that keeping lights a bit further away from Lowryder can produce larger yields, can anyone verify this?

Thats great i can keep them indoors until they're ready to be sexed, Planting 20 plants outdoors was intimidating me a bit, 8-12 female plants sounds a lot more appealing.

Any clue to when i will be able to idenitify the males under fluorescent lights?

I should probably keep growing all the males, but i honestly cant be bothered to grow and see which male turns out the best to collect pollen from so i can pollinate my females.

Also, do i just pollinate during the first week of flowering in the females?

1 - imo buy seedling/clone soil. Its about $5 to $7 at most for a bag of seedling/cloneing soil compared to like $10 for 15 jiffy pucks or $100 for 1,000 jiffy pucks
2 - use a fan on them asap so if and or when you do move them out side they will have a stronger stock
3 - CFLs are way better then the tube version of the CFLs so insted of 3,000 lumes being streched out over 4 feet or w/e its in a 1 foot area and that will help them to grow faster.
4 - You can't tell if they are a male or female under any kind of light unless they are auto flowering. If they aren't the light cycle has to be 12/12 but if you have a space to have clones take clones off them and root some of each and flower the clones. Don't forget to lable what clones came off what plant
5 - The farther the light is from the plat if its CFLs or Tube flor the plant will strech to get to the light since the strength of the light drops faster over shorder distances then a HPS

^They are autoflowering plants, i also heard they aren't able to be cloned or they are really hard to clone so im not looking to clone them. I also read they are able to be subjected to 24/24 light cycles

yea auto flowering strains will flower even under 24/0 light. You can clone them just that they will flower around the same time. But imo if your growing auto flowering strain in hydro you prob could get away with cloning and rooting thoes clones to get more out of them then in soil cloning since they should root faster and grow faster in hydro

Yeah, but im not growing hydro style.

My Plan Is To:

Germinate
plant in peat plugs
sprout indoors under cool white fluoros
once i can distinguish males and females, females will be moved into soil pots outdoors.

1 male of each strain will be kept in order to pollinate plants.

Also, i was wondering, Say i plant the females outside. Would i be able to keep the male plants under the fluoros until the females are flowering and ready to be pollinated? or would the males die because a fluoro isnt enough to keep them going?

If the fluoros are on a 24/24 light span, would i change it to 18/6 for the maled so they develop pollin sacks or what?

ok if the males are also auto flowering you will have to do a pollin harvesting method to keep the pollin to pollinate the females

I was planning on collecting the pollen by cutts the sack open, and using a paint brush to apply it to the females.

Do i need to change the light cycle for the plants? or does autoflowering mean that i can just keep the maled under 24 hour light as long as they live cause they will develop anyways.

ok 1 you don't cut the pollin sack open and to the paint brush method. I've seen it done that you harvest the sac when its about to pop and put it into a containor and use the paint brush.

No Automatic Flowering strains flower no matter what the light cycle is. You can have it under a 1,000w HPS going 24/0 and it will still flower on its own

k, sorry if i come off as extremely stupid, i'm still learning.

Once i can sex the plants (at least the males) how long after that would the polllen be ready to be harvested do you think?

I'm not sure but I think when its almost ready to pop it will look like it has little white flowers trying to brake through the pod please correct me if I am wrong

yea. if your gonna flower then to sex them take clones and make a flowering area so you know what sec the ones you grew from seed are and don't forget to lable them so you know what one is from what plant

Female gives buds, males give balls, bananas (male flower) and pollen, and if you have them close, the male will pollinate the female no mater what you do or not do, or you can just have them separate, and get the pollen from the male with a cutip and pollinate only few buds. if you have them outdoors lets say males and females all in your backyard, the females will get pollinated even if there on opossed corners its call nature, and that would be a waste of buds.
you can get some pollen and keep it in a enclosed sealed container in freezing compartment for ever.
