Wide & Short Smart pots?

Not sure if this is in the right forum. But, would it be wise to get a larger size smart pot (say 10,15 gallon) and just fill it up to the 1/2 way mark, then just cut/roll back the remainder?

I have a very limited space of 1'4" x 1'4" x 3'11 (using growlab40 tent) so I'm thinking to use my width as much as possible and try to save on height.

Does that make sense?

Yeah man that's a solid idea I'd do that

You do t necessarily need deep roots but a nice mass of them is good a 15 cut in half would work perfect.
