Wife says smell is too strong and i need to make some changes! inlaws coming intown!

Ive always just been a closet, light and fan guy untill now. Wife is worried about the stinky new strains i got in flower now. Her parents are coming into town for a weekend and shes right if i can smell it they for sure will smell the skunk in the closet!

So i bought a 4×4×6 1/2 tent and a 6 inch fan and charcoal filter from htg supply. My hood is not air cooled but i do plan on getting a air cooled hood before the inlaws arrive. My main question is how do i hook all these pieces together?

Does the filter and fan hang at the top of tent?
Is it ok to pull the hot air thru a air cooled hood and then blow it through the filter?
what do i do for intake air? Just open the flaps at the bottom of the tent?
i would like too see some pics of these types of setups so i can have a idea of how they work!
Any help would be great the tent will be here in 2 days and want to have a plan ready!

Show some pics...
But your fan is connected onto your carbon filter inside of your tent,
Is there any strings hanging from the top of the tent to suspend the carbon filter from?

that is the best setup for carbon filters. filter mounted at the top of the tent with the light. the next issue your gonna have is the noise of your inline fan. they sound like aeroplane engines.

I cant post pics til my tent and filter fan combo get here!

I did order a duct muffler and a fan speed control with the fan and filter. Do u think they will help with the fan noise? If the inlaws ask whats that noise ill just say its a whole houes exuast fan..if they ask twice ill just tell um to mind there own fucking business!

Are the fan and filters heavy? Im thinking i can suspend it from the roof of the tent with rope or bunjee cords.
Do u use big hose clamps to connect the vent ducting to the appliances (fan filter etc)

I use bunjee cords to hang my fan and velco straps to hang my filter in my tents. If you got a speed controler and duct muffler you should be fine as far as noise. I dont run either and you cant here my 4" inlines outside of my room. On the very rare times people are at my house they never have said anything about hearing my grow room.

Id run the ducting how brettsog has it shown. how many watts is your light and what size fan did you get?. As far as clamps I just went to hd and got 4" and 6" clamps. But I use 6" ducting with a 4" fan and a few reducers.

use bungee cords.. i use shoe strings.. and look at my signature and peep my grow for a explanation and pics of your exact setup. it isnt that difficult. im not trying to thread jack but if you seriously take 15 minutes and read my 4 page thread youll be much reassured on how this hooks up. it isnt rocket science, but it is confusing if you are coming at it from left field. ive been there. good luck sir

i use a fan speed controller and a duct silencer for my setup and in combination they both cut noise back by a good 75% or so..

The light is a 400 watt CHM bulb run on a magnetic ballast. The reflector is just a standard batwing type.
Since heat is a concern of mine i will.be picking up a aircooled hood but getting rid of the stank right now is my goal with this upgrade. So the last piece i will buy will.be a.new aircooled hood

As heat is a concern i got the 6 inch fan and filter combo from HTG Supply. The fan is rated at 424 cfm which seems like over kill for a 4×4 tent so i also got the speed control to slow it down if i need too. I also got a duct muffler cause i was betting on that fan being loud. Im just hoping after i squeeze all this equipment into a tent i still have room for some plants!

Excellent choice on the CMH, best horticulture bulbs you can get (when used correctly), I assume you'll be using the Philips MasterColor CMH Retro White bulbs? From what I hear they can't be beat. Best buds Ive ever seen were grown under 600W HPS + 400W CMH in air cooled hoods inches from the top of the canopy, interested to see how this progresses, PLZ keep us posted with as many pic's as possible.

@choop, you probably already know this but just in case, you want to have as few bends in the ducting as possible, each 90* bend reduces the air flow by approx. 25%, in the pic above you have 1-90* bend and 1-180* (or dam close to 180*) bend, if you can reduce the bends in the ducting between your cool tube and carbon filter to one that would help air flow a lot, however if your doing it on purpose to reduce noise or you need the reduction in air flow (no fan speed controller) then that's fine.

Yes im running the phillps bulb and the plants love it! I will have to say it grows um fast!

I usally just do two medium size plants and usally pull like 5-6oz dry every 9 weeks with my old genes. But i moved and left that strain behind with my friends to continue to play with. Since that strain Was somewhat low odor i never had any need for for a carbon filter setup.

This was the first time ive started from seed in last 8 years! I didnt know what i was in for with these new strains!

Ill throw up a pic of my two ladies this weekend i thought he wanted a pic of the fan and tent...i got a White widow and blueberry bubblegum by g13 labs going now week 2 of bloom. 5 gallon buckets in my own soil mix. Using the whole fox farms lineup

I got 8 more strains in waiting and since this was a new room i decided to run freebies first which just happend to be the g13 labs gear.

The goal is too find a new mom or two. my last genes was a random bag seed from a oz of dank bought in Arizona in 05'. It.had a super citrus taste and smell it became my house strain all my friends started calling it OG OJ (it had a super strong orange taste and smell). I grew agent orange from Tga once and it really reminded me of that random seed so i always thought that was what it was...ive been super lucky over the years with finding good strains from other growers and have never ordered seeds in all my growing years!

you can put the fan where you like. some people prefer them in the tent to be stealthy. if stealth isnt a concern then place it where ever is best suited to you.
