Wild mushrooms

Most of the pictures of mushrooms posted in this thread are not edible. Don't go picking unless you know what you're looking for or are with someone that does. Also go for what is commonly picked and learn how to identify just those. Don't worry about identifying everything that might be edible unless you're really into mycology. A couple edible mushrooms for dinner isn't worth making a mistake with identification.

I'll probably never get out there with a shroom pro, but do you recommend any books? I like the old Audubon books a lot of us grew up on. I was thinking about picking up one of those. I'd look specifically for chicken of the woods or chanterelles because i know of people finding them around here.

@thumper60 any id on this?

Any of you guys growing or grown shiitake. Looked into getting some plugs for some logs but never followed through. Still think I’m going to eventually.

This book is great to start out very simple with great pics, First trip out it will pay for itself.IMG_2949.JPG

I've been meaning to start a thread on lion's mane. I've heard it might be beneficial fighting demetia/alzheimers which runs in my wife's family. I'd like to stack it with psilocybe and possibly chaga but from what little I've researched it looks like a substantial amout of LM needs to be ingested. Not sure it would fit in a pill. Maybe a tea like chaga. I can only imagine what that chaga tea tastes like lol

This one is good for here in the PNW. Most mushrooms are found all over but there are some that are found in specific regions.
