Will 15m on 15m off work for Aero?

I was just reading another post and a couple people said that they got better results with 15/on 15/off. Why cant you get a $10 timer at walmart?

look... im not an expert... but i am now finishing an excellent aero diy grow with a 30 on 3o off timer. It does work. 15 on/off would probably do nothing but help. i've pushed my plants as long as 30 on/60 off with great results, although i must admit i saw an increase in plant growth and a decrease in root growth when i went to 30/30. Either way, when you use the diy red misters and a 400or so gph pump like most people do, you don't achieve true aeroponic where the droplets are small enough to be more efficiently uptaken. So the only real advantage you gain is that the roots are hanging in the air for maximum oxygen uptake, which is obivously still a good advantage. However, in terms of feeding, we primarily just need to keep the roots moist and not let them dry out. I have found that wet roots at the end of a feeding period take aboiut 3 hours to totally dry in my system, i found this out when a timer failed and i happened to have checked them three hours before. Anyway, as long as your roots stay moist while hanging in the air then you will be ganing a good amount of time saved by having built a simple diy aero instead of a pure hydro. I totally agree with the theory behind the aero timer 1on/5off, but i think it becomes far more crucial in both high preassure real aero systems and also in Stinkbud style systems, where the roots lie on the draining surface and have water draining through them thoughroughly saturating them duting the watering period. If you have plant sin hydroton with roots hanging in the air above a res with a pump and misters spraying them at 15on/off and you use good nutes and a hps light theni would honestly say you will get good plants.
