I'm about to begin construction on my new grow area. I have a 14 site PVC aero setup built and ready for clones. It is about six feet long and two feet wide. Thus, my grow area will be about 8 feet long and 3 feet wide. My question is will I get a pretty solid yield from 2 400's?? If not, what do you recommend?? Ill take any suggestions thanks.

how tall will you be getting these plants??? i would say if they are going to get very tall you probably need 2x600w to get the big, tite, fat colas that we all know and love... BUT, you can probably get by with the 2x400w if you have them already use them for one crop, then invest in better equip for next time....

Thanks for the input! Its always very appreciated . Right now I have one 400w and I am light shopping. Maybe I should get a 600w?? I would just go big and get the 1000w if my grow area wasnt so long and skinny. Also, heat could possibly become an issue, however I dont see it being a big one, but surprises always happen.

Edit: Oops I forgot to say how tall theyd be getting. I would probably go from my cloner straight to flowering once they're in my aero unit, so id say flowering would start at about 6" maybe a little smaller maybe bigger.

kind of in a tough spot here.... i also started with a 400w but ran into some money and just got two digital 600w hps. u could always get a 600 now.. then down the road get another one. obv some of your plants would be bigger under the 600 but if thats all you can swing right now then i'd do that. why buy another 400w if you're just going to want to upgrade in the future. buy the right thing the first time... really learn that with this hobby.

Yeah a light mover would be ideal in your situation.

I am growing in a 3' x 4' area with a 400 watt and I kind of wish I had a little more light.

I still think 400 watters are the best all around value, cost of lighting is better, and they work great. You just don't get the giant ass donkey dick colas like with a 1000 watt. I keep mine trimmed so I get more smaller buds and it works fine. The Big ass buds are just for showing off :)

With a long thin area like that what about a 1000 and a light mover
I say buy a 600w light now. Use the 400w and the 600w and when you can afford another 600w grab one. You can still find uses for the 400w such as vegging larger plants if you ever wanted to do that.

I am in the same position as you, except a friend had a 400w that he let me use so I ran 2x400w on my last grow. I grew them in a 4x4 area on a 3x3 tray and in 11 weeks I got 11.5 oz's.

It's not a terrible setup, but you will yeild much more with 600's and I think you might waste your money on another 400w.

I looked into the light mover idea, but I feel like its too expensive because I would have to buy a 1000w set up as well as a light mover. Thus, I decided two lights would be best. And i just rofl'ed at that comment: "giant ass donkey dick colas" hahaha. wow for some reason I thought that as hilarious. Anyways, it looks like the best idea from what I have read here is to get the 600w now and wait to get another 600w later. Within the next few months, Ill be starting a new job so I will have some extra cash flow as well so I may have the two 600w's sooner rather than later, depending on the unexpected costs of this grow.

Also, since this new job will bring in a significant amount more, what do you think about three 400's vs 2 600's?? or possibly 3 600's if I can control the heat. Any ideas on that?
