Will going lower than 12/12, say 8/16 or 6/18 induce flowering quicker?

If so, and once i see budding, can i then revert back to 12/12 for the rest of the flowering stage.

ive had my plant for over 2mon in the veg. stage and ive not seen any pistils or seed pods. i want to induce flowering faster so i can just figure out if my one plant is a female or not and stop wasting my time and money on electricity.

then i can start another plant too. thx.

you may have a light leak. if a plant is light sensitive the smallest amount of light will keep it from flowering.

nah no light leak, i didn know how long to leave in veg. growth so a leak is not the issue. i started 12/12 this past wed. 2 days ago. im asking if i can speed up the flowering stage a bit to figure out the sex if i go below 12/12, ie. more dark than light.

when u r ready to flower shut off for 24hrs then go to your disired light schedul. i veged for 8 weeks then switched.i seen nothing when i did but when i turned lights on u could see the buds starting. good luck. how big r you plants now

my plant is a bit over 20" tall. how many days should i keep lights off for 24hrs? i figure that if the plant experienced a lot of darkness it would really tell it it's time bloom. i figure that a 12/12 cycle is not too representative of a normal day anyway. i live in the dessert and it's sunny blue the whole day, but i dont even get 12hrs of light anyway. in the morning its not super bright or is it at night.

And I think that if a plant flowered faster w/ fewer hours of light then everybody on here would be doing it, I could be wrong though.

i just want to induce flowering quicker, not leave at this cycle for the whole flowering stage. also, bc ive left it so long in the veg. stage, my plant has not grown pistils or seed pods yet. still the stipules are by themselves.

just stay 12/12 they will show in about 15 days from going 12/12,
but at the end of budding u can cut light hrs back witch can make them finish abit quicker but dose not help with over all yeild. hope that helps u,,,

cool thx. how long should i expect to see the sex? sex is determined after the beginning of the flowering stage right? i have not seen any pistils or seed pods, just lonely stipules.

If you cut your lights back to more than 12/12 you will stress your ladies and turn them hermi. You can change the light cycle to 8 on and 16 off for and extra two weeks at then end of flowering.

Good luck and happy growing

i just really want to know when i can start to determine the sex. i suppose i can just wait but have been growing since lat jan. and have left for a long time in the veg. stage. is one time of 24hr dark bad?
