Will removing carbon filter's pre-filter give me more cfm's?

my rooms completely sealed. i have to recirculate. i dont want to make a hole and push air out or bring air in.
Thats how I run all of mine since I am running AC and CO2. I only turn them off when I put my AirROS machine in the room during lights out.

I vent to basement cuz its a small bedroom with a 1000w HPS. If heat wasnt an issue, I would not vent to basement.

just to clarify... u flip the fan upside down and blow air out?

what if i suck the smelly air in with the fan and it goes thru the filter then leaves as fresh air? would that accomplish the same thing?

i feel like it accomplishes the same thing but the fan is more efficient sucking air in correct?

Correct. The most efficient orientation is to have the fan sucking air through the filter.

All mine are setup with the fan pulling air through the filter. If you blow through the filter you would want a dust shroom on the fan, replacing the carbon filter sock, preventing a dust clogged filter core.

My filters are 48 inch tall and have a 12 inch connection. I stand them on end, fan on top and using a little section of galvanized snap seam duct and an adjustable elbow on the top so I can aim the output so it flows under my lights and above the canopy.

Seen those dust shrooms for the first time on a hydro site. I wouldnt ever need one but its a good idea.

You should be able to mount the fan right to the filter and stand it in the corner out of the way. Just have it suck air thru the filter and blow it up to the ceiling.

It doesn't have to be up high if you have good air circulation in the room. Sure hot air rises but not when it's getting mixed up all the time.

I've been wanting to do a sealed room using a dual hose portable AC unit too but a bit short of cash. Picking up a few sheets of OSB next week and add on a veg space downstairs that can become part of the better setup down the line.

I love using my whole house as the "lung room". Keeps the air fresh, perfect temp, perfect humidity. For both me and the plants.

very nice. whats that thing in between the fan and carbon filter and whats its purpose?

cant you just slap the fan on the filter?

The length is to raise the output to the desired height so I would be blasting my plants. I am using the airflow to eliminate the need for wall fans. Also the fan and filter need a collar to join them since you can't slide one into the other so the section of duct solves that issue as well.

very nice. im tempted to take down my carbon filter and do the same thing lol. awesome idea.

ive just had smell issues personally putting it in the corner of my rm on the ground so i just recently hung it near the door

I have to run two of the 48x12 filters in each of my flowering rooms to keep up, if I turn one off the odor starts to creep. One in veg and one in my drying room.

When I put my AirROS unit in the room during lights out I turn off the carbon filters since they grab all the hydrogen trioxide. The AirROS unit really does the odor control during that period and honestly I am probably going to replace the CF's with wall fans when I purchase a dedicated AirROS unit for each room (I am just moving the one I have from room to room each day for sterilization use). Since the AirROS unit only uses like 30 watts it's more energy efficient than the 12 inch vortex blowers and a lot quieter too lol. If I used a long extension on the duct, like across the room or something then it would be much quieter because those fans make a lot of noise.

Quite the unit but their site doesn't list prices. I've been growing in the same room for almost 20 years and never done any kind of sterilization in there. After a long battle with mites I kept the temps at 75 in there for a month with all the plants upstairs. Was winter and the basement was around 50 so the mites would have gone into hibernation then woke up when the temps went back up and the war would have started all over again. Keeping it warm makes all left over eggs hatch and the f'ers starve to death in one generation. Higher temp even 10 days would be enough to make sure they were all dead.

I think you grow lots more than me so have more interest in keeping everything super clean. I never seem to have problems with stuff like PM or bud rot and my intake is filtered really good. Filters need replacing now too.

Which model did you get and what they charge for it if you don't mind me asking?
