Im going to, just wanted to be certain if its worth the time to grow them vs just ordering from a seed bank
If they were from male pollen they will be typical regular seeds with no particular risk of herm. If they were from female/herm pollen, they will be feminized. If they were from a plant that hermed outdoors, I'd think they'd be higher risk but they might be fine... and bomb. I imagine you don't know where the pollen came from so you'd have to pop a few to see. One single male and you'll know they're regs.
I recently bought 5 seeds from cropking and 4 out of 5 seeds were duds. I also planted 11 bag seeds from unknown strains and so far all of them are doing good. I personally won’t be bothering to spend the money when I have free seeds any more
10-20 seeds per ounce doesn't sound like the plant the bud came from was named Herman. Might be from a normal male. Like mentioned above, pop them and when you see the first male, you will know.
One other thing. If the seeds came from a male, it's quite likely that it happened early in flowering when the males first drop some pollen. Presumably the grower would get the male yanked out as soon as noticed. If the seeds are very full and mature and buried deep in the nugs, they're probably more likely to be regs. Seeds that look like they've just barely finished are probably fems.
Thanks for the info, the seeds are buried deep In the nugs and majority of beans were healthy and viable, there were a few that were immature and white. Sounds like there gonna be regular seeds.
That's no guarantee...just an educated guess. A herm could drop pollen early too. Be vigilant in checking them, but give it a shot with a few if the bud was A+. Good luck!
