Will she survive

Shouldn't be a problem depending on the strain and what size pot it's in. Bigger pots help protect the roots. Putting a burlap bag over it with some supports can help as well as some extra mulch.

You're not really supposed to be growing outdoors in Illinois. Indoor is better anyways.
This is nonsense. Outdoor growing yields as good or better herbs as indoor. Illinois is a great place to grow outside, keeping in mind the short season.

To the OP, as long as your plant is free of mold let it go. The cold nights will encourage ripening. Last season I had a plant take 13 frosts and one full snow. Some of the best I've ever smoked that plant was.

You can grab a clear shower curtain or plastic drop cloth from the dollar store and cover the plant at night to keep the cold off the plant.

Let us know how it turns out!

Growing outdoors in Illinois is forbidden. You have to grow indoors, if you want it legal. Not knocking growing outdoors, other than insects, and maybe the occasional humidity spikes in the fall.

I wouldn't know what's legal or not, never paid any attention. All my life it's been illegal. I've been growing since the early 90's when it was wildly illegal and I simply don't care and grow on.

If it concerns you then definitely find out the laws first in your area. I'd hate to see someone busted because they didn't know the laws. I know what I'm doing and accept the fact it could end badly.

I'm in Michigan. How long has it been outside? If its been out all summer i would leave it be. I grow outdoors and the cold weather and constant rain makes it think it will die soon so they fatten up and try to produce a seed. Just keep an eye on the trichomes. Btw growing outside might take a little longer but its way easier. I already harvested 8 of mine and i can barely walk through my 2 car garage because there are 8 foot monsters hanging from the rafters. I still have 4 more in the ground waiting for the trichomes to turn amber. The only bad thing about growing outside is some asshole will hop your fence and take them all if you're not careful. That happened to me once and it sucked. I usually have enough to last 6-7 months and I smoke a couple ounces a week.
