will these lights work

Hey eyelessism!

A halogen light will put out too much heat, look for an HPS for flower. MH will do as well.

I picked up a 150 watt HPS for 25 pounds at a hardware store, be sure to change the bulb as cheap ones will loose intensity quickly.

Will work fine, I added a bulb socket cable extension to use the housing as a remote ballast. Less weight hanging, and heat in your grow room.

Good luck! Any questions please post in the thread linked below.

If you can pick up a cheap one made for gardening, as tsky linked, run with it. Simple.

250s should be able to grow in a space 50/60cm square so say 4 small/average size plants

They are not the wrong spectrum just very inefficient at producing light more heat than light.

i only want to grow one plant as a trial now but how many will this lamp be able to grow
For real...If you're going to just run with 1 plant I would just use CFL's for veg and a low-wattage HPS for flower.....could prob run CFL's the whole way......

hps isnt perfect for veg, metal halide or cfls are prefered however hps is perfectly capable of doing it start to finish and its cheaper to do so than having to buy more equipment

Honestly for 4 plants....I would go with 400 watt. HPS will get you through whole grow with one light....or get a MH conversion to throw in the HPS socket during veg....
