'People are lazy', and yet more and more are growing their own food in the interests of knowing what's in what they're consuming (sound familiar?). '
That's bang on, would these same people buy from an unknown source (cc/disp.)or a regulated one (LP?) being a long time grower and having the insight to see what goes on behind closed doors, I would never trust anything coming out of the grey market. That's just my personal choice. How about you?
Itsme.
It's bang on, but not for the reasons you think it is. Given people interested in growing their own food are also generally interested in sustainable / local production, and are very likely to also purchase things from farmer's markets. So given they buy their food from an 'unknown source' (according to your definition), yes, they would feel comfortable buying from a dispensary.
It seems that a repeating theme in these kinds of threads is that someone brings up their 'inside knowledge'. Now, I'm not here to debate the veracity of anything, but as to what 'goes on behind closed doors', it's more or less your word against everyone else's. Prior to the G&M investigation, that's all we had.
Now, we know that the majority of a representative sample of dispensary cannabis passed the ridiculous MMPR regulations. And for those that didn't, experts considered the actual health risks to be dubious. Luckily the lab results for the G&M's investigation are the same whether you've been growing for 1 day or years, and aren't contingent on what 'closed doors' you've been behind. You clearly have a bias against dispensaries, and the average / reasonable person, on weighing the balance of the risks would not share your opinion.
In my view, harping about how LP's are the only 'legal' source while touting your knowledge of illegal activities isn't much better than our friend Bob who was making some or all of his living from breaking trafficking laws and then coming in here to tell us how it's illegal for Canada to legalize. You are not 'rolling the dice' when it comes to dispensaries from the G&M's lab results, that's just the math on 70% of cannabis passing regulations.
Quite simply, there is no epidemic of people getting sick from the evil dispensary cannabis. I have yet to see any substantiated proof of anyone in Canada ever getting sick from dispensary cannabis. You seem to be quite partial to the regulation 'halo', in other words that regulation for the sake of regulation is somehow intrinsically good. It isn't, there is no justification for over-broad regulations, and if 'legalization' is over-broad like the MMPR is/was, it will be struck down.
We now have proof, thanks to the G&M, and it isn't in favour of any of your arguments. 'unregulated', 'but it's illegal', 'you don't know what's in it', etc, are just FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt) being perpetrated by the extinction burst of prohibition. It's unfortunate these arguments seem to be brought up time and again in threads like these, because they're quickly debunked in just about every case.
[For those who didn't sit through the same psych classes I did, an extinction burst is when there's a flurry, or 'burst' of an activity about to be ceased. So for example, you might go to town on junk food the day before starting a diet.]
