Will this lamp work?

Hey I am desperately looking for information on if this lamp i have will be suitable for growing. It's a 27 watt 120volt 60 herz Ott lite, I think they are mainly used for reading and such but it says full spectrum so i was curious, I already grow outdoor but the weather in wisconsin is notoriously unpredictable. I also have 3 of them if one wouldn't be strong enough or something i can stack em up. If anyone can give me an answer i'd really appreciate it.

They are fluorescent bulbs but why? Get some CFL's

Agreed, and even if they where CFLs you would need to stack them till you get around 400w depending on your plants and your growing space to get decent results.
Are you planning on moving indoors completely?

I was kind of hoping to, also I am only growing 2 plants for personal atm. I am quite inexperienced with indoor if you hadnt noticed l o l.. How much would a cfl bulb for those lamps set me back? and the way it sounds I'd need to stack 10 of the bastards to have any results..seems like i may just have to keep it organic. Edit: I can always just google the cfl and find out. Editx2: I think they may actually be cfl bulbs in the lamps already.. But would 3 cfl lights like above stated be able to work on 1-2 plants?

Also i was kind of thinking of going almost like hybrid lighting for like shitty rainy days and such i could bust out a CFL or two to put on the plants that sit on my southern facing windowsill to give em a little extra juice, my yard has a high fence with tons of shrubbery and trees around it so nobody could see glowing lights in the window.

You up north? Or closer to milwaukee?

That stupid reading light is almost as bad as using an incandescent bulb. CFL's really are the cheapest way to grow properly indoors

Again i have to agree with mr2shim, Forget about those bulbs you already have. You will have to invest some time and money to improve production. If you are planning a full indoor go CFL as its the cheapest. If you planning on supporting your plants on rainy days with extra light then i would recommend that you get/build yourself a green house to house the plants. If they already planted get some 2x4's and make the structure around the plants. This will help keep your plant warm and dry during rainy times and provides you a platform to hang lights on those rainy days. I grew outdoors for 4 years in a real bad part of South Africa and this method got me the highest bud production. Im assuming you are planted in the ground?

I usually start in small biodegradeable pots and then about 2-3 weeks into it i transplant outside And to thinn I live in the fond du lac area(not actually fond du lac but within 30 miles)

Grab some cfls if you want to start indoor....if your just going to veg til you can get them outside this will be fine, if you plan on going full term indoors you will need a lot of cfls or a few big ones before you can get your hands on some H.I.Ds.

Im down in milwaukee area, you can check out our craigslist for some cheap hps and mh lights. There is always shit listed up by fond du lac that I wish i could get my hands on but its just to far out of the way for me.

Also look into t5 fixtures. There is a guy on craigslist who has a monster t5 12 bulb fixture with 24 bulbs for sale right in fond du lac. I would have picked it up but like I said its just out of my way....
