I went to a thrift store for a DC 12V adapter to power a PC fan and they wanted 7 bucks for it!
I bought one at a dollar store for $4.99:blsmoke:
and it works great.
I also wired a smaller pc fan to a 7V DC adapter and it works awesome.

Mind you it's only moving air for a 16"x18"x24" box.
Like the other posts say, it may run slower and not move as much air as it's capable of but it shouldn't hurt the fan to give it a shot.
Hope this helps a bit.

I tried using an old cell phone charger rated 5.1v on a 80mm PC fan. Honestly it was pretty weak... probably not worth it. I found a 12v one and it spins much faster.

In my dresser grow I used A universal Adaptor and that way you can choose the speed you want to run it at... i had my fans in my cabinet running at like 9v Very quiet and i never went over my temps... but thats just me... jsut an idea for the people who never used one for the fans... Peace guys

if the adapter has a detachable connector find ur positive stick in in the holes seal it up.. or if it has a conector u cant change stick your positive into the hole of the connector and the negative around the metal part the outside of the connector.. or scrap all those options and cut the end of and wire it that way.. thats how i did it.. peace man
