Wilma PH fluctuating really bad!

Hi RIU,

I have recently got a wilma system in place and I am having some issues.

Well it is just one main issue and that is the PH.

I filled the 70L tank and put in the nutes and calmag and then PH'd it with PH Down and let it be.

It's been 2 days and I forgot to check it yesterday, got it the day before mind, and I checked it today, 3 hours before lights off.

I couldn't get a stable reading firstly so I scooped some in a cup and even this was fluctuating. from 7.7 to 10 even higher.

So I thought I would add some PH down by doing this it stabilised at 6.

I checked it once more as I am about to get out and it is fluctuating again around 10/11!!!!

I don't know what to do.

The girls look okay to be honest, I have been combatting a humidity issue with lights off and got a dehumidifier in there now.

I know the PH of the water will go up and down but to 11?

The EC has remained the same at 1.4.

Any ideas anyone?

All help/feedback is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ok well first are you mixing the solution in the tank before testing?

What are you using to test? If its an electronic meter my best advice would to get some pH paper or those pool water test types.

If your still getting flucatjons that crazy, then Im gonna ask what's the guaranteed analysis of your nutrient supplements. What sort of nitrogen does it use.

Yes I am mixing in the tank before testing.
I'm using canna coco nutes my friend.
How do I find out what sort of nitrogen it uses??

Uhhh idk which blend your using from Cana Coco so I couldn't tell you.

Type or take a picture of the guaranteed analysis. Usually on the back label. Has the nutrients and percentages listed.

well it stabled out at 6.4 so i havent bothered to mess with it now cos it might be what they need.

I'm seeing roots trying to get out of the bottom and sides, this is the worst out the sides, any idea what to do?

There ya go!
It's 1:50 ratio of ammoniacal nitrogen to nitrogen nitrate. So the fertilizer will not raise your pH except for maybe the sulfur in it but I doubt it.

I'm not familiar with the Wilma system but it looks like drip irrigation. The roots coming out of the drain holes would be normal then because they're going where the water leads them.

No the fert and tap water (which has a ph of 8.4) comes out perfect at around 5.8 - 6.0.

It is only when I added CalMag I have had to adjust ph as this brings it up to around 6.5.

The issue with the roots is that they're coming out the side and A) they are getting hit by the light and B) they are going to be drenched when they are fed.

I just noticed that there is a root coming out of one of the Rhizo pots aka smart pot.
