Window A/C Installin in closet.

Bad idea?

i want to cut 2 holes in my closet door. one at the top and one at the bottom. The top is for air intake, my can66 will be blowing into it. Around door height there will be the "slot" im cutting for the ac to blow into my grow room, which the closet is part of. Im going to sit the whole unit inside the closet, with the door shut. I'm going to make a 2inch duct from the ac to the door so the room is still accessible. Basically what i'm trying to do here is mimic the outside, by having a "hot room"(closet) i think that the ac would work fairly well. Now before i go cutting holes in my landlords, should i even bother doing this or will the ac just overheat?

Any ideas on how to drain the AC?

The only thing i coudl come up with is basically a drip pan for the ac. It doesnt have a hose like most AC's or i would just put it in a bucket. Im going to put the ac on bricks (so its elevated from..) which will be ontop of a nightstand. between the bricks + the stand will be a very large drip pan to catch the water.

I tried to give best details as possible, thanks,.

You have to vent the a/c outside because the a/c unit must vent. If it vents into your house you can be poisoned by the fumes. I wanted to do the same thing untill a guy at lowes told me I couldn't.

this could work with an air cooler. Not really the same as an air conditioner but a model like this uses little energy, also ionizes the air to help with smells, and moves air like a fan but also cools air enough to compensate for your lights. Just an idea.

have you ever used one? i bought one a couple years ago and i used it for a day before giggling and throwing it in the storage.

No I haven't needed to try it. It sounds good in theory...for a small area like a closet, in an otherwise temp controlled environment.

it blows a very slow stream of room temp air. when you add ice to it (added feature for luxury) you can almost feel the difference.

they use special wording to make it sound like it can cool a room but it only is intended to cool a person (who is sitting in front of it....

when i called them to return the item i said it doesnt cool a room or even a closet ....they said its not supposed to its supposed to cool a person. LOL
