winter indoor outdoor 2x 400w metal halide 20 days in

ok so here is the outlines of my little experiment:

It started when I found a singal seed I recieved when i asked a co worker to bum enough herb for a spliff. At once I rescued it from being rolled and smoked. Placed it in a damp paper towel to germinate, this was on Nov. 25, 2008.

I began construction of my grow box that day. I put in one stud 3ft from the corner in my shed to create a 3x3x 8.5ft box with mylar interior lining . I divided the space in a 3ft tall lower veg section and a 5.5ft tall upper flowering section. so far ive had my one plant in the lower section intended for clones and sprouting on 24/7 it is now Dec. 14, 2008 18days into veg.

I topped the little one on its third set of nodes about 8 days ago. it is taking to the topping very well.

um actually a funny storey i busted into a warehouse and there was about 10 400w mh balasts 2 boxes of 400w mh bulbs and about 30 4' 4 bulb fluro balasts with a few boxes of bulbs. i think i may have jacked someone elses grow op to be but w/e. so to answer your question i didnt pay shit for my set up the most expensive thing was the 10 mylar emergency blankets at 4 bux a pop. lol.

Yeah im trying to get some of those balast units i can make just about anything so i refuse to pay like 500 bucks just for a shined-up warehouse light ya know! But for now check out my cfl grow

lol yup i like the crazy CARLING ..... not really but im trying to cut back on beer cost to fund my grow op lol... anyway i hope you can draw some inspiration from my lil party shack grow op........

I'm used to Carling/Lucky/Minhas/etc. Thats all we drink at hockey... You come off the ice and as long as the beer is cold its good!

Are you going to be using a lower K bulb in your flowering area? I've seen 400W MH bulbs online that have lower K for flowering... Or did you get lucky in your heist and get both bulbs?

Um i have only 2 types of mh bulbs one big and one small so maby there is a difference but im not too worried about it i have the small one in the veg chamber and the large one in the flowering chamber due to the fact there is more room to heat/ light.. but as far as i know i should be just fine with any 400w metal halide. either way even with plain mh bulbs ill be more succesful than my cfl and fluro grows from the past.

those damn fluros i put so much time and effort in and ended up with really nice LOOKING plants but when flowering was over and done I have a couple pounds of loose shake ass buds.... HID LIGHTING IS THE SHIT... in the few weeks ive been using these lights i have noticed a huge difference in growth rate.... that little one in the pics grows a 1/2" a day and stinks like a skunk strain already.... lol making me a proud father..

ok so now im officially 20days into veg period. i made a first attempt at cloning today taking 2 small clones to test. i took my cuttings and put them in regular water.

Im gonna keep this mother vegging till i have about 8 rooted and potted clones then im gonna flower it. im going to take 2 clones at a time. therefore the first 2 clones will be my new mothers to be cloned then flowered and so on and so on.

my perpetual grow is well on its way to success....what do you think???

i just went an checked on my clones it has only been a couple hours and one seems to be drooping is this normal???

II have added my pics of my ghetto LST technique. I used the coil thingy off of a cheap ass key chain from the dollar store... it seems to wrap around the branches very gently and easy to use.

Looks damn good Jon... So whats the temp in your shed? My new space with our -40*C weather and a -48*C windchill factor is only dropping down to -1*C. I still have to mount my lamps and see how much heat they are actually going to put out. Hopefully enough so I don't have to insulate the whole 20' x 20' area. Worst comes to worst I'll use heavy canvas strung from the ceiling to make a smaller area 6' x 6' to hold in the heat better. Sort of makeshift for winter... once warmer weather hits it will be much easier not having to worry about keeping things warm.

outdoor temp has been around -30*C inside the grow box is between 20 and 30*C the 400w mh puts off alot of heat. i have a $25 can tire heater just in case with built in thermostat..

Well its warmed up here a little to the mid -20s C... But my potential grow space is still sitting around -1*C

I can't wait till my shoulder is all healed up. I dislocated it, fractured my upper humerus, and possibly torn my rotator cuff. So setting up my grow room has come to an abrupt halt. Such ideas and plans must wait till I can move my shoulder again
