Wispy buds. Can I snip 'em off?

I've posted this question in the CFL forum, but the CFL forum is populated by noobs like me. Can I cut the wispy buds at the bottom of my plant off to increase the growth / potency of the larger buds on my plants? Please check out my grow here: https://www.rollitup.org/cfl-growing/50550-poppinsmokey-s-first-grow-cfl.html

Just goto page 5 for the most recent pics. This is my first grow, and I haven't been able to successfully search for the answer. Thanks in advance.:peace:

Hey POPP..

very nice plants... i think they are to far into the flowering period to make any significant changes by cutting lower branches...

great pictures too!

Thank you for replying so quickly! I'm growing in MG soil, do you think it is too late to add a little phosphorus and potasium for a boost? Thank you and much love!

I love your book, I read a few pages every day for the quotes. Very informative read; I try to find a good quote every day to on which to meditate. My favorite is, "The only way to have a friend is to be one." - Ralph Waldo Emerson. I try to find an opportunity daily to be a good friend even to those I barely know.

Hi Popp

I am soooo happy you like the book and the quotes!

How do your leaves look? Are they dark green or do yo think they can use some nutrients?

Are you pHing your water? How many weeks into flowering?

My first guess would be that you could feed... but I would dilute it to 1/5 the recommended dosage...

cheers

37 days into flowering, vegged 18 days. Leaves are deep green. The bottom fan leaves have been yellowing and necrosing for about a week now. The rest of the leaves are pretty healthy. The strain is PPP from Nirvana. I've read it is a 56 day flowering strain, but I'm prepared to go longer if need be. The lower buds are way ahead of the top colas. Thanks again!

dang that dude's face in your avatar is funked up lookin ...wtf
i believe that is the back of a bald man's head made to look like a face. and to answer your question, if you wanted to remove the lower branches to concentrate all your growing power to the tops the most efficient way is to take the bottom branches either in veg or very early in flower and kkep the cut branches as clones then you maximize your efforts.

Pretty sure there is a little photoshop going on in the avatar, but freaky nonetheless. Thanks for the kind words! Feel free to stop by my grow (https://www.rollitup.org/cfl-growing/50550-poppinsmokey-s-first-grow-cfl.html) if you'd like.

Yeah, Jesushasdreads, I'm afraid I've learned that the hard way. Oh well, I'll do better next time. I'm probably going to start a couple more and try out some cloning and veg a bit longer next time. This being my first grow, I'm really just shooting for a decent yield of some potent dank. The good is a bit pricey and harder to come by where I'm at right now.

i hear you man, smoking your own is better anyways, keeps your dollars in the industry and out of the hands of dealers. plus you have the freedom to grow any strain you want. here are pix from my lst soil grow, day 29 of flower...enjoy

Great looking grow Jesushasdreads! I am sooooo looking forward to smoking my own. I agree with everything you just said about the economy of growing.

I'm thinking they look a little hungry. What do you think? Of course I had to throw in a couple of pics from yesterday too:mrgreen:
Hey Poppin, the leaves are healthy but they could use a feeding...if you look at them you can see how the leaves are starting to yellow..that looks Like a Nitrogen or Magnesium definciency to me. It's not bad, but it could use a "tending to".

They do look very nice, though! Good work :peace:

Hey mr. I was thinking the same thing except the leaves do look very light green EXCEPT for that ONE top cola.. I have never seen a plan that looks like that.... JUST one dark cola.. ????

I am guessing there is plenty of FOOD (nutrients in the soil) but the pH is off... what do yo think?

The leaves, fan leaves, could be loosing their green becuause of the 4+ weeks in flowering...

great photos.. great cfl grow.. fun to look at those plants!

How dark is dark green to you?

Is this "dark green" or is this not dark enough: http://fileshack.us/get_file.php?id=215031&file=MARCH0~1.JPG

those look pretty darn AMAZING.. except for maybe the one plant in the back (Left)... could be the genetics, lighting, etc..... or it could maybe take more nutrients

Those plants look like they are at maximum NUTRIENT levels...

A common method for figuring out the max nutrient load is to get the leaves super dark green and even a slight burn on a few tips of the leaves.. and then on the next grow, cut back 10-20% in nutrient dosage..
