Woman Sues After Being Forced To Listen To Rush Limbaugh

On October 4, 2010, Houston’s Bridgett Nickerson Boyd had a very bad day. Her car engine started to smoke, so she pulled over to the shoulder. Sheriff’s Deputy Mark Goad pulled behind her and rather than help her, he decided to arrest her for driving on the shoulder. Her heart began to race, so she was taken to the hospital. Upon release, Goad took her into custody.

It may not surprise you to learn that Boyd is African American. It may also not surprise you that the presumably white Texas cop was listening to Rush Limbaugh during one of his many racist rants. From the Houston Chronicle:
Because of the incident, which occurred on Oct. 4, 2010, Boyd filed a federal lawsuit Monday against Goad and Harris County alleging defamation, false imprisonment, malicious prosecution, assault and battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

“Deputy Goad was aware that Boyd had not committed a crime and her arrest was without probable cause,” according to the lawsuit filed in Houston.

The magistrate who saw her while jailed apparently agreed and dismissed all charges.
In the suit, Boyd alleges that the handcuffs were painfully tight and that she had to listen to Rush “make derogatory comments about black people” all the way to the jail.

While I am all for the gal getting payback for her poor treatment, false arrest and malicious intent of the Deputy and hope the Sheriff is made to pay dearly, the fact that she had to listen to Rush is protected under the first Amendment and I very highly doubt her case hinges on Rush saying racial epithets.

While people may not like Rush, what he says is 100% protected.

Fuck that, the cop can listen to that shit on personal time. Eddie Murph's "Raw" is protected speech, but I guarantee you aren't watching that shit at work.

LOL you can't sue someone for listening to rush limbaugh. Well, you CAN sue them, but you won't ever win and the lawyer fees gonna make it a expensive lesson to learn.

So next thing we know we are going to have officers listening to state-approved radio only.
Man, I don't know where you work, but I've never worked at a place that would let you listen to shit other people would find offensive. Your at work, your there to do your job, not be entertained. Do that shit on your own time.

Not everyone works in a office with 100 other people. Most Deputies work alone and can listen to any goddamned thing they want.

Yea, about that...he wasn't alone, was he?
Yes he was, the person in cuffs in the back is not a co-worker. Its like if you are listening to music in your car and a old lady drives up next to you at the stop light. Think the old lady has a right to make you turn your music off if she doesn't like it:?

I didn't put that old Lady in the back of my car. Not anywhere near the same thing as making someone listen to some fat fuck badmouthing their whole race because he got in his head he's superior. Your really going to try to sell me that their's nothing wrong with a white cop arresting a black women because her car breaks down and she has to park on the shoulder? Even the courts didn't agree, because they dropped the charges. Are you really SURE he didn't do that JUST to be a dick?

Never thought I would see people defend comes with such zeal on a pothead forum.

I think you are assuming that anyone who would protect speech must also be a racist and must love to see innocent black people persecuted. You can take your false claims of my stance, but I have already CLEARLY stated it. https://www.rollitup.org/politics/475206-woman-sues-after-being-forced.html#post6435087 You should read it again before you are made to look like a demonizing fool who cannot make a argument, but who falsley accuses people of things they have already qualified in a previous statement.

I am NOT defending the actions of the deputy, perhaps you don't understand that because you are blinded by your racial rage. You aren't a relative of Dukeanthony are you?

i hear what you're saying and i have had to censor my music (not a huge talk radio fan but do like the morning shows sometimes)based on my job-site. But if i rolled up on a job-site Bumpin' this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0x5ZRAVXxr8&feature=fvst and the majority of the workers were black i might expect no cooperation, dirty looks, and possibly an ass-beating but not a lawsuit.
