Sounds like you are adding water to dry mix- a no-no.

Also, I don't just dump the nutes in at one time, I sort of sprinkle ~ 1/2 tsp at a time while I swirl the water

Very nice setup, would love to see you do a MJ SOG grow in it, with good HID lighting (Especially CMH) I bet the colas would be HUGE!! So when will we see that system full of FAT BUDS????

i ended up using that veg+ bloom and i loved it

however it cost to much so i just bought four pound containers of all the main chemicals
and a pound of micromix and made A+B concentrates and my costs are down to 2 dollars a pound from 27 and i dont have to wait for the powder to dissolve.

im going to be transplanting my husky red tomato seedlings into this thing tomorrow ill post pictures. its sitting on a greenhouse bench no hid lighting though

Keep in mind, when using quality dry ingredients (like HR does), you don't need anywhere near as much ppm, especially when feeding 5+ times a day.

Nutritionists tell us 5- 8 small meals a day is best.

Probably a max of 500 ppm is sufficient for tomatoes. It is for late growth mj with max of 600-800 for full on flower

i bough my salts from customhydronutrients.com there made by companys like yara and peters professional. and are technical grade salts that dissolve completley. i bought the 4 pound containers rather than huge bags this time around because they convienently tell you how many parts per million a gram of each chemical provides. ie it says right on the side of the container one gram of calcium nitrate in one gallon of water yields 38ppm nitrate, 3ppm ammonical nitrogen, and 50ppm calcium

im heading out to the greenhouse soon to think about transplanting my tomatoes there huskey red which is compact with big fat stems and trunk and medium firm delicious slicing tomato.

i started them on a stir plate

i grew them to 1 inch then placed them in neoprene collars
i am misting them with two delavan #11 nozzles 2 minutes off 4 seconds on.
once they have roots below the root collars i will drastically cut my times down.
im not expecting very fast growth rates as my ambiant temp is 55F but i will be experimenting with a higher ammonia:nitrate.
i also will be experimenting with what i like to all a heat bomb which is a half gallon glass jar with an aquarium heater sealed in it set to 80F.

anyways heres some more pictures my setup is sort of gravity fed however it requires a little bit of lift to keep the line full. sort of a 90-10 gravity-siphon fed.

I hope that works for starting seeds. If not a super simple bubbler works great. These are clones, but for seedlings I use a small starter cube + small net pot + pvc coupler

yeah i failed. the styrafoam was to thick and it elevated the root to a place where the mist wasnt able to reach the root. long storie short they died.
i already have a bubbler cloner set up and am rooting some wandering jew .

I know exactly what you're talking about. I had the same problem with the 2" foam. I ended up carving a flair around the holes. It helped a little. Careful with that wandering jew. It'll take over your entire house if ya let it.

funny thing, the leaves are dead but most of the little tap roots are still white and very hairy. although there the same size as when i put them in the collar.
