BTW, I was in the Ghetto grow box today and I noticed a weird thing, I have a plant that is almost all 3 leaves...Not sure why? I have some plants with 3 leaves here and there, especially on the buds, and one that looked like a spider when it was vegging, I'm just wondering, it if was nutes wouldn't they all have it? and why just parts of the plant?
Its a genetic pre-disposition. Sometimes nutes and/or environment can bring out weird traits or they can just have them from the start, like phenotypical traits in humans/animals.

After a couple of runs with any particular genotype, you become familiarized and are able to understand the plant better. at this point we're able to form a more educated opinion about the overall 'character' of a plant.

Well the drill has NO BALLS....the shank on the hole saw was too short, I fixed that with a socket extension, no room to use hubby's 20 pound drill...so for now I have the outline done, I'll drill several small holes and then chisel the rest if I have to...the hole maker was 24.00 and can't cut thru the wall??? I'll take it back tomorrow and get another one if I have to...I got a 3 1/2 inch hole saw for the 3 inch pipe, will silicone from the inside as there is not way to get up that far from outside, and I'm not safe on a ladder...so at least I know my limits...had to adapt the fan to hang sideways and drill a few new holes to attach it, as the wall had almost no studs in it, it's a closet.
Most people send a 1/4 pilot/spotter bit from the inside of the house to the outside, then start drilling inward from the outside. If you drill from inside to outside its a lot easier to fuck up your shingles and rip em off. you can also use the pilot hole to finish the hole from the opposite side
if you dont have a 1/4 " bit you can take the rods that hang up insulation in your basement cieling it should go thru no prob.

I'm drilling thru an exterior wall. Not the roof, it is metal. The drill needed charging so I'll try and get it done tonight, I moved them to the short buss till I'm finished...I was worried about the blown in insulation. The hole is 2 stories up, so I'll have to make due with what I have.

Tropez, just a small tip... looking at your lights...with no reflector you might find your lumens higher at plant tops if the spriral CFL's were turned horizontally. I ran into this with some big 350W CFL's...turned them horizontal and added a a bat-wing reflector and BAMMM! The heat rising up through the ballast section might reduce lifespan...but that's just a hunch.

Thanks for the tip!

My new fans :) Also posted an update and a quick DiY for mounting an oscillating fan in a tent corner and getting 90deg coverage. Plan on adding a base floor about equal height to my vents next round. Maybe use milk crates if they are of the right height. Peace!!

Guys just good advice "Never underestimate a woman with a tool box" I see light and have cut thru the inner sheathing now thru the siding, as soon as the drill charges again. I had the socket extension in my tool box, so I can get into the hole and get er done...I smell fresh air coming in..I see daylight, I decided to use a 3 inch vent pipe instead of the PVC, cause I can turn the pipe downward and not have to worry about rain coming in.

You will want to make sure it doesn't glow from any escaped light also :)

Thanks Shaggin, it's on the side of my house, under the roofline about 6 inches, North side of the house, nearest neighbor 1/2 mile...I'll check it tonight when I'm done. Thanks

Ive never done a scrog myself, I can't really offer advice re topping. Others will have more knowledge. I notice the chicken wire though, does this not cut into the stems?
No it doesnt really cut into the stems at least not from my experiance anyways, i think its a little bit to thick its stretched tightly but its not exactly what i would call rigid.

Topping will produce more side branching. When running a scrog it is important to pull those main branch ends down even with the canopy. This will cause all the small side branches to grow straight up which you then train to open sections of the screen.
Here is a couple pics of my early training.

These pics are from the same branch taken 3-4 days apart. Notice how pulling the branch end down causes the middle growth to explode up. These side branches are what fill the screen. Always pull new growth back under the screen and tuck, rather than weaving through the screen openings. This will make it alot easier to move the branches around as they fill out the scrog.

I also use a combination of LST and the scrog screen for training. Just get some nylon string and duct tape and tie those branch ends down and tape the string to the bucket like this.

I only topped my girls once, but I started out with pretty branchy clones. I aim to get 4 main branches to guide to the outer corners of my screen, and let the side branches fill the spaces in between.

Hope this helps. Feel free to bounce any questions my way I am more than happy to help.

Yes success, new fan is in a mounted, very quiet cause I used weather stripping to mount it, Turned the old exhaust fan around and made it an intake fan, Gorilla taped down everything, Mounted the thermometer, Cleaned the whole room and then closed up the vault, now I hope to have less of a smell issue.

Should try to keep the PH between 5.8 - 6.2. I've read that with Hempy up on the 6 - 6.2 side works best. I think the 5.8 area is best for DWC or similar style hydroponics. A PH of 6 seems to work really well for me :) Peace!!

Been home most of the day again, I need to get back to work, but I can't concentrate. It's been slow all week...and I love playing with my plants, I harvested a few and put them into reveg, I'll see how that works for me, I'm not doing clones too successfully. I need to add to the vault soon, I took a Jack Herer from the Ghetto grow box and moved it to the Boom room. That plant is in a 1 gallon milk carton and it has some huge leaves. So I'm kinda excited...Put another 3 leaved plant in the Boom room..and reorganized and watered everyone. Some if the plants in there are 3 feet tall and I need something to stake them too...Moe don't u use bamboo?

I'm still trying to find a good mother, what do I need to look for?

Anyway I'll check the Short Bus tonight and see what can move from there, I think most of those will be done in 2-3 weeks...

Too bad Hubby is not here, he would have loved having a good supply.

I put the other stuff in glass canning jars, How am I supposed to air them out? take off the top? For how long? How long do they need to stay in jars? Is a long time OK?

Hey who. I take the tops off and let them air out for 2-4 hours, just until they get a touch of dryness on the outside again. Don't let them get too dry, putting the top back on sooner is better than too late. I do that for about 10-14 days and when I judge them fit I take and put them in jars separated by what buds I want to smoke first to last. Some people vacuum seal for long storage but I just seal the jars lid by heating it a touch with a hairdryer and tightening it good. Then I put them in a dark cool place and don't open them till I'm ready to smoke that jar. I just finished up my last jar of blueberry from my last grow and almost 6 months later the taste and quality seemed better each jar.

Personally, I would at least test and adjust your ph if needed. Who knows what quality of tap water you have. Regardless of nutes or not, ph levels set the right environment for growth. I wouldn't ignore it just because you're not using nutes.

So Stone, I should put them in jars right away? I thought I was supposed to hang them until they were dry then put in the jar?

I do have a vacuum sealer for jars and the plastic storage bags too....

Sorry who I thought you were into the curing stage already. I hang mine till the stems get a bit of crackle to them. Not a full snap, still a touch bendy. Then I put them in paper bags for a week or two. Once the stems get a good snap but not clean through I jar them and cure like I said in the last post.

Edit: Each harvest is different and the elements have a great deal to do with overall dry times. Just keep a close eye on them make sure they are not too close together to let air flow between them and prevent bud rot. When in the bags it is important to move the buds around a few times a day to help with this too.

No. they need drying first (about 4-5 days hanging). ... then into jars.

its worth reading up online about drying and curing since this where mistakes can be made and bud ruined.
