Worm inside of web cocoon?

I was checking the plant today and is seen 2 leaves were kind of stuck together. When i went to pull them apart it was like glued together. So i turned over the leaves and there was this worm inside of a web cocoon. I pulled it off and smashed it. Just wanted to know what it was.

theres these green bastards that takeover outdoor crops all throughout northern california ...they could eat pounds up if left un plucked out of the buds... dont let those fuckers have a chance. lol
