Worrying for nothing?

I’d like to hear what y’all have to say about this. Not sure what to think because this is a new to me strain and also switched to RO and cal mag . Remember, I don’t have as much experience as some of y’all. Also tried something different by starting this seed as opposed to what I normally grow. All of this is for 100% personal use as well.

I’m currently running a Bruce Banger photoperiod from Seedsman, not their auto flower Bruce Banger. Also took a couple clones of her yesterday.

For the prerequisites:

The plant is in a 2 gallon Hempy bucket with straight perlite, being fed GH trio (can’t remember exactly what EC and how much of what I’m running off the top of my head, somewhere around 1.2EC, and I’m not at home to check right now) using RO water since my tap water sucks worse than a Hoover vacuum, with 2-3mL of Cal-Mag per gallon.

Under 410 actual watts of LED light in a 2x4 tent. One Maxisun PB2000 and two SF 100 watters, all roughly 20” from the top of the canopy.

Temps are pretty stabilized around 81-83°F with leaf temperatures ranging from 78-81°F, depending on where I take the reading. RH ranges from roughly 45% to 65% depending on time of day. I don’t have a proper humidifier and dehumidifier setup. I have plenty of fresh air coming in, being exhausted thru a AC infinity 6” exhaust fan with carbon filter. Also have a couple clip on fans for air circulation in the tent. Plus a fan blowing on the drivers to keep them cool

With that out of the way, here’s this bit of info:

The seed officially emerged from the soil on December 23rd. Been running a solid 18/6 light schedule. Topped at the third node, as I always do. Once able to, I started tying down branches, again like I always do.

From what Seedsman says, this strain is a sativa dominant strain. All cool with that, zero issues. What’s throwing me off is how this little fucker is growing. I feel as ifI just got a vastly different pheno from everything else I’ve found on this strain.

The plant is about 8 weeks old and is short as shit! Like roughly 18” tall from the top of the medium, estimated. Node spacing is super tight and she doesn’t seem to want to stretch. I was expecting a lanky plant, not a super tight plant.

All seems decent with the plant, currently playing with the feed and cal mag crap since I just recently switched to RO because I was having issues with my hard water. Do I have anything to worry about, or did I just get an indica dominant strain?

Attached two pictures. One from the top and another from the side. I can’t flower this Girl for a few more weeks due to a long vacation planned. Hoping she’ll stretch some more before flowering. I plan on thinning her out some to get better air flow thru her.

What does the group say? Any suggestions or thoughts? Any at all, criticize the fuck out of this shit! Only makes me want to do better

I should have also noted that the plant doesn’t look THAT yellow/green in person as it does in the top down picture.

Also, this may have been posted in the wrong category.

Guess I should have also stated that the two 100 watt lights were recently added, less than two weeks ago. Could still be an abundance of light not letting it stretch out a bit.

Maybe reduce the light to about 200w until time to flower? Then give her everything? I typically run all 400w a few weeks after plants get established, without issues. But I’ve also been running a very indica dominant strain for the past 1.5 years.

did it look all right before you added the extra wattage beacuse if there were problems already more light may have just added to that.

i have never grown in hempy so i really dont know what to look for there but some hempy person will pop in soon i’m sure :)

Maybe I am the only one ... but I think you are worrying for nothing. For comparison, my sativa dominant strain, that I spread outward as well, ( I deduced from the alligator clip that you are doing some LST? ) is 1 week into FLOWER so the stretch is in full swing. The tops are just a little over 1' above the medium and I am not worried.

Do you give them any Epsom salts? Mine like a little taste of Sulphur every couple of weeks.

Everything seems to be going okay. The extra lighting didn’t cause any negative difference in the plants, not that I can see at least.

I’m pretty sure I’m just overthinking things. I’ve never grown out a sativa dominant strain and was honestly expecting more lanky growth before the flowering stretch.

Yes, I LST everything I grow. I do normally add a little pinch of Epsom salts every third feeding or so. Have skipped it the past few feedings.

So all in all, everything seems to be going good? Just stay on top of things and carefully adjust for the RO since that’s new to me?

Looks hungry... 1.2 is weak for a sativa I think you'll want at least 1.8

This is my first time messing with sativa dominant anything, that I’ve been aware of.

Would you work up to a higher EC or just jump straight to it? Maybe 1.4,1.6 then 1.8? I feel it would allow me to read the plant better. Preventing a possible over feed, if it doesn’t like the high feed. Just brainstorming here lol

I don't think you have anything to worry about in regards to the pheno. Plants just grow how they're going to grow. Remember that the 'pheno' is a result of the plant genetics interacting with the environment it's growing in. You can grow the same cultivar from the same breeder in two different environments and notice slightly different characteristics expressed. There could also be a pretty big change in growth once you flip to flowering as well.

I'm also skeptical about how stable genetics are these days especially when ording from some of the larger seedbanks. A lot of breeders are just crossing to F1 or F2 and calling it a day. Not necessarily anything wrong with that as long as you know. Can expect some more variation between plants when poping seeds. As long as you keep the plant healthy and happy everything should work out just fine :)

I'd take it to 1.6 and go from there. I feed everything at 1.8 anyway... mainly coz my tap water is .75 on its own

Fed the girl in question at 1.6 EC Friday. Confirmed that I was previously feeding her at 1.2 EC.

She started to show signs of being happy again by Saturday mid-morning. All perked up and everything seems well for now.

I got so use to growing the same strain for so long at the same feed schedule. Almost forgot how to read plants and how to adjust everything according to the plants needs ‍

Thank you for the tips everyone! Much appreciated, as always.
