I am thinking of growing autos again in doors. I was wanting to know would a T5 2ftx4bulb 96 watt plus adding some CFLs be good for 3 autos in a small grow box? Or would I need a bigger T5 for 3 autos?

I plan on doing 3 once I learn how to germ these mother fuckers!!!! If I find more light is needed, I'll add side lighting of cfls, or led panels. The real question you should ask is it adequate for such and such space

i grew a auto out once and it got HUGE, so dont always bank on them staying small. what kind of auto's? maybe if you tossed some names out people could give their experience.

i grew Auto hobbit a freebie a while back and it just grew crazy huge, also watched another thread who grew pineapple express auto and it got pretty big as well.

so to answer your question, it really all depends on how big the auto's get. if they stay about 1 ft then it will be fine, 2 foot acceptable with some side lighting, anything over 3 ft they will starve for light unless you put in a shit load of CFL too.

you can also train them to stay short if they start getting a bit out of controll, mine grew mostly in the 1-2 weeks after it started its flowering cycle.

good luck man

please dont take this as a insult man.

if you dont know how to germ seeds yet i dont think its a good idea to try growing anything but reg bagseeds. its not worth the money dump on good seeds to practice on them, if you do plan on going ahead with your plans i suggest doing alot of reading and asking questions before you start, i just hate to ee you throw money down the drain .

I have grown autos before with just CFLs. I was wanting to try some other type of light, thats why I am thinking of getting a small T5.

I have grown lowryder#2 and its stayed short. I have grown sugar mango, she is almost 3ft tall. I am thinking of growing lowryder#2 again or trying afghan kush ryder or berry ryder.

I was talking to dkmf1 not you on that comment.

but a T5 and a CFL produce the same type of light, basicaly you have 2 electrodes running electricity through a gas in the glass tube. the electricity makes the gas iluminate creating light. same concept different shape, i believe the same is with MH but not sure and dont know about HPS, its not what kind of light you get its how much you can get efficiently.

running 5,000W of CFL is just not ideal.

anyways like i said if they stay short man you should be fine with the 2ft T5 and a few CFL. make sure you do some reading on color tempratures if you havent already and grow for it :)

just wet a paper towel place seeds on it. wet another paper towel and lay on top of seeds. just wet the paper towels and shake off the extra water. you dont the paper towels to be dripping wet. place in a dark place. spray the the paper towels when they feel dry. dont over wet the paper towels. 1 or 2 days the seeds will sprout. gently remove from paper towel and place in whatever you are using for medium. such as soil. there you go.

I done that before with success, killed those 2 (bagseed) in hempy buckets with mg perlite. Each grew about 3"s in 2 days then folded over. Learned yesterday is was more than likely "damped or damping" and I may have been able to save them. I was really surprised at the root system they can grow in such a short amount of time. I tried the pt method on a rude bud auto and also a little dwarf auto only this time I threw a ziploc into the mix and I put them in my pc case with 4 bulbs a blazin' and no fans on. Box got to about 102* for atleast 10 hrs, bag was HOT, and when a took the beans out, they were very soft and popped like zits.......cooked em" good! Took my 2nd little dwarf and just threw it in seedling starter soil, 4 days went by and nothing. Un-earthed it and found a tap-root, I picked the casing and membrane off and buried it to the green ball. Today the baby leaves seperated and I can see the first true leaves, very small but they are there. I sank 4 seeds total in a glass of water and stuck them in peat pellets,,,,1 quick poison auto, 2 freebie's, and a bag seed. They are in the dark and I'm hoping for the best! I was going to post something like this earlier, but I didn't want to jack your thread. Thanks for the tips and concern smokey and brute,,,,very much appreciated guys!!!!!! +rep for both of you!

start with soil for your first grow its alot easier.

also inadequate lighting will cause seedlings to stretch and fall over and die as well. with CFL's you really need to keep the light close.

Gotcha! I chucked the perlite after the first failure, using seedling starter soil right now. I'm officially calling my little drawf a seedling! I have it outside with a makeshift humidity dome over it (pie pan top) and it has grown about an 1/8" today, both stem and 1st true leaves. Keeping it like that until Isaac's rains hit us. Hopefully my new pc fans will show before then so I can stick it in my pc case. I also have a t-5 cabinet in the works, but it is in a un-controlled climate room so I may opt out of doing that. Wife and kids are very nosey, so stealth is the only option. Thanks again guys!

you dont want to keep the seedling from the elements ( at least wind) otherwise it will never grow a strong stem. take the humidity thing off of it and let it get some good sunshine. high humidity can cause issues like mold and damping off which is basically a mold that grows around the base of the stem and kills the plant

let the soil dry out a little too no need to water it every day (unless its killer hot and dry out) do the "lift test" if the container feels pretty heavy then dont need water. if it feels really light chances are its dry and you need to water.

good luck man feel free to drop in my thread and ask questions if you have them. the link is in my sig
