Would these be close? (Northern Lights)

These photos are from day 50. Started under 600 watt HPS but were transitioned to 108 watt cree bulbs because it was a hermie. We are seeing majority red pistils, and maybe 2-4% amber trichomes. Majority of the trichomes appear cloudy in consistency.

The breeder says the strain takes 56 days. Is this plant ready for the chop?

Nope, not ready yet. You'll see them turning from milky to amber soon. And again, your leaves will start looking like crap. Totally normal. They'll turn yellow and brown. It's not nutrient deficiency, it's the buds sucking up all of the potassium. You can trim off the dying leaves if you want. It won't make too much difference. Don't trim healthier looking leaves though.

I would think of maybe one more feeding. Maybe at half-strength. Then balanced water.

They're looking great! Just thought you'd like to know :-)

Also, feel free to follow up with others with your questions. I try to know what I'm talking about, but there are others in the forum who know much more than I do. That's where I learned everything :smile:

Also, the amount of time the breeders give is based on normal growing, outside. Any time you stress the plant with training, or even human error, you are stunting the growth for a few days, or more. By scrogging, supercropping, etc...you are making the plants grow in a way they weren't supposed to, with the goal of increasing your world. But, the downside is that you are extending your grow time substantially. You could grow a single plant in your tent, and SCROG it to fill out the entire net, but you'll be vegging for two months. Trade-off is that you can get up to a couple pounds from a single plant. I'm not going to SCROG anymore. Too much work! I'll top and do some LST, but for the most part, I'll let them grow more naturally.

We really appreciate all the help you've given us over these last couple months. Means a lot to hear that the plants look good. It's funny that at each new stage we're concerned the whole operation is going to fail. Seedlings, veg, flowering, and soon we'll be freaking out over harvesting and curing.

Also we are definitely going to subscribe to the less is more tribe next time. We have a couple of seed varieties and will go with 1 strain and go for 4 large plants in the 4x4.

Glad I could help

. I know how you feel about something going wrong at each stage. It's pretty common with new growers, until a couple successful grows are finished. Growing gets so much easier after a little while!

I don't know if I agree with the "extending your grow time substantially" comment, concerning ScrOG. Depends what u meant I spose

It may add a bit to veg... but I'm still banging out 8 week flowering times in ScrOG, with 10-20% amber trichs. Pic is 6&a half weeks into flower - exception is the NL5X Neville's Haze in the back left corner. She's a couple weeks behind. Started flushing a couple days ago, already getting chlorosis & amber trichs

Here is an update of photos. Plant is at week 8 of flower cycle. Some of the sugar leaf is starting to brown at the tips so we're hoping we can chop soon.

I know what you're going through with having to wait. Mine are very slowly turning amber, and my patience is wearing thin! But, I'll wait. It's crucial to wait for the right time, to get the peak of potency.

Would you agree that at this point the plant can benefit from simple pH balanced water? So no Nutrients, CalMag, ArmorSi etc.

Yeah, I'd it's about time for straight, balanced water.

I'll post some pics later, after the lights go out. Sometimes it's difficult to judge the color of your leaves under the HPS, so I like to take "lights out" pics so I can see the true color.

Best guess, a week or two. It's hard to tell because some strains take longer. Mine is going agonizingly slow LOL! But that's because HB has a long growing season. I'll be growing something much more in the norm next time.

They are beautiful ladies. You will have some killer trim to play with.

We appreciate the positivity. This was one of our best plants until she hermied. Now she sits in the veg tent which is 108 watts (12 x 9w LED that are 60w equivalent bulbs).

We haven't researched better extracting methods much. Very experienced in making brownies, green dragon, and the Iso black tar.

Update without photos

The highest colas are showing the highest ratio of amber trichomes. One or two are almost at 50/50.

Would it be better to wait until the lower sections are close to 50/50 and harvest the entire plant, or chop each cola as they mature.
