ya i thought theyd be better then using cfls atleast eh? haha. theyr only $75 too so not like im thrown down alot

If you get the proper bulbs they will work better. They usually use a 4500k bulb. You wan't a bulb around 6500k for veg and 2100k for flower.

edit: I have one in my basement that I used for my first grow. It will work, it's just not the best light for the plants

those are metal halide the light spectrum is best suited for veg, i would def buy one at that price cant go wrong they are plug in ready just need to do a little modification and get your grow on

Definetly,
but some CFL growers get some good ass outcomes.
CFLs is just all about the light placement.
If you put enough effort in a CFL grow,
you could even double the outcome of just hanging one of those above the plants.
Its all possible :D

so if i just go get sum grow bulbs n put em in theyll work? dont need certain bulbs for ballasts or anythn?

I couldn't find a grow bulb that fit the fixture. Mines not exactly like that but most of the shop lights are the same.

ballast is already on there, and they are 400 watts so get a 400 watt bulb and make sure it fits....bring one with you to a grow store they will be chill....and try and see what spectrum your lights are

the ballast runs both murcury vapor and metal halide mv are not good for growing it will run the mh , the m59,and h33 are the bulb typs ,that work with this ballast

thanks everybody. just waiting till i move to get everything just looking at stuff for the new place cause I will have a big basement to fill it as much my little heart desires

float a loan and get them all and sell the ones you don't need at a profit to pay for grow materials ...not 200 but dbbl @150 ea...
