You think that no where in your lineage there has ever been any incest going on? I guarantee you do. If you trace your ancestors back enough generations you will find a pair of parents that were very closely related.

Gotta kinda agree with you. If we are talking about the ENTIRE human race becoming extinct......or incest..... Well...At least half should be normal right?

1st off, i don't have a daughter.

secondly, i don't understand why people are saying your children wouldn't be fit to survive. inbred offspring have very little trouble surviving. an occasional one might die here and there because of genetic anomalies, but over all there would be little problem. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Founder_effect

thirdly, most of you grow and smoke marijuana and the predecesors of your favorite strains are fucked against their relatives repeatedly. hell, in marijuana breeding, they even have the kid fucking the mother or father in a backcross. for God's sake, we eat the products of incest all the time in our meat, grains, fruits and vegetables. some of you own dogs that have been repeatedly fucked by their own relatives.

why are humans different? because we can communicate most efficiently out of all creatures we should not fuck our children or relatives if push comes to shove?
 
I think it's down to the relationship between parent and child not going in that direction as well... I wish I could explain what it is that makes it so wrong.. I know your family are technically no different to any other human being Even if society or religion didn't say it's wrong, having been abused by family members it just makes you feel sick to the pit of your stomach and confused and disgusting. Don't just think about whether you'd be inclined to tap that, think about what it'd do psychologically to her. You all know how fucked up I turned out.

I felt it necessary to share that to give you another point to think carefully on.

Different cultures, different levels of taboo. In Navajo culture any physical contact between male and female relatives is strictly prohibited. Even in cases where the two relatives are not blood related but from the same clan. The first thing two traditional Navajos do when greeting each other is to share their clan affiliation. If they're related by clan then the older one is considered an uncle or an aunt. Even if you meet this person for the first it's your responsibility as the elder to look after their welfare.

if nobody ever told you that what your family member did to you was disgusting, vile, and terrible, do you think you would feel confused and disgusted? i don't think you would. i think you're confused and disgusted because other adults in society told you it was horrific. if nobody ever mentioned to you that "that isn't supposed to happen and that it was terrible that it did happen," you would have no basis on which to judge that event as good or bad. only after learning and reflecting on your cultures values did you felt revolted. you may have felt your stomach turning, disgusted, and confused during the sexual abuse, but it was only because you had already learned some of the cultural values and when you tried to reconcile them with what was happening to you, it made you feel confused. when you finally did put the pieces together and understood how far from cultural values that event was, you felt disgusted and have felt that way ever since. you feel how cultural values say you should feel. this is neither right or wrong, but is.

No. I kept it to myself for a long time and actually felt more wrong about it and made a bigger deal over it than my family did. They swept it under the rug but whilst I was milling it over it in my head and at the time I was having trouble articulating it but I just felt /something/ was really not right. I felt scared and upset and wanted to crawl out of my own skin. Compare it to the disgust associate with non violent rape and 'just having sex' wit someone you actually love/trust... Even though you're supposed to be able to trust your own damn family.
