WTF did I do wrong?!!!

used to be I would see thse bushy short plants that look like a head of lettuce and think

damn that's the kind I want... but ive learned that the plants that have a little stretch do better in tight spaces and will often yield better

im not one to tell peeps to pull fan leaves cuz then all of a sudden folks start stripping there plants like mad fools

but if you got a bushy bitch and your getting the dew that budman mentioned then you might need to consider thinning her a wee bit

typically if I haven't grown her before I will wait to prune until after the stretch is over (week 2 or so of 12/12) because many plants will start out bushy as fuck but still get a good stretch ... its when there in bloom and barely stretch and super bushy i will thin it out starting at the bottom and working my way up until I get some small bit light thru the canopy

You answered the question I was about to ask sir. She's pretty bushy and so is my other girl...I hate bushes lol. I'll give her a nice landing strip after the flowering stretch.

Yeah if your gonna do it in flower i read the average best days are 21 and 45. this is considering your plant stretches for 3 weeks though so it varies by strain
 
I do strip fan leaves heavy with in the last two weeks before I harvest( after week 7ish) ... working my way up again from the bottom

mostly I pull them as they start to yellow/finish... I leave the green ones

I always start feeding , lightly, right off the bat. That soil should be fine as is (won't burn), but I like giving my plants a little bump. By the time I get to bloom stage I am going balls out, like 1000 PPM / 6.3 PH. It seems to work for me

yeah i pull if theyre almost dead late flower. dont know if i should but i get tired of seeing them

if that works for you im happy..

not at all how I do it

fox farm soil has enough in it for 4 to 6 weeks provided your pot is large enough
I got plants in 6" pots that are 1ft tall and topped 1x that just asked for food a week ago and that's only cuz the pot is too small and there root bound

it light on calcium and magnesium so calmag is the only thing required... unless your organic then you might pre-amend with some gypsum to get the calcium

unless you've got a long veg time you really shouldn't need much if any fertilizer until bloom

and even then I keep the EC/ppm low and add basic tea and compost, a little Epsom salt and a calcium supplement

Don't defoliate (trim leaves). the plant needs and uses all they have. If a leaf is above a bud site, I will pull the leaf out of the way, But I never cut leaves, unless they are dead or dying.
Also without leaves you will not be able to "read" what is wrong with your plant, so my motto is the more the merrier (lol)

In my case, I notice SOOOOO many growth tips that aren't being exposed to adequate light due to fan leaves; mostly in the middle of my plant. Tucking > trimming the 2-4 that are blocking said tips? When I flip to 12/12, what will come of the tips that haven't been exposed to light? Will the still produce bud?

I try to do the same thing if i see no problems. i even use fox farm ocean forest :shock:

I have the full earth juice line and use only that in flower if i can and this grow ive mixed half homemade compost with my soil with some added perlite

Those bud sites are being fed by the fans, and will grow past most of the leaves. Even if they don't hit full light, they will still mature and produce. Just move the branches and leaves so you can expose the bud as much as possible to light.
I repeat, don't cut leaves. All it does is fuck with the plant.
 
I think they look good. But I bet they are gonna stretch you outta room. Lol. I got a bush going myself. I'm not gonna have a choice but to remove some fan leaves. I try to not remove them I try to tuck them a few times. And if they just don't want to cooperate then I cut them.
As you can see in the second pic a dead leaves. It's from being so short when I water. It lays in the water and nutes until it soaks in the soil. I use FFOF also. It is hot. And has about 0.005% of cal and mg in it. Pretty much non-existant. I use 3ml per gallon only at feeding. And don't waste your money on distilled water. It's not worth it. Tap is fine. Just adjust ph and don't forget the ppm doesn't start at 0. Don't forget to add it in when you use tap water. Like my tap is 55-60ppm straight out the tap. I feed at 700-800ppm right not. So I usually add enough nutes to make roughly 700-740ish. Then the 55ppm from the tap take close to 800. But they look good man.

you CLEARLY have medium severity magnesium def

yes your using calmag I understand... but calmag is more calcium than magnesium
if you want to add calcium add calmag

if you want to add magnesium add Epsom salt

the fox farm nutes have zero calcium and little to no magnesium in them!!!! look at the bottles
so adding the calmag isn't bad because it kept you from being calcium def
although id bet you could cut it back to every other watering don't over do it!!

add Epsom salt 1/2 tsp per gallon and water it in to roots
after you've recovered cut it back to 1/4 tsp every other..

spray them a couple times with 1/2 tsp per gallon epsom salt

flip to to flower because your space is already over crowded
