if you look at trees like sassafrass and mulberry, they have arranged the leafs to filter light from the exerior of the plant to the interior. This is done by having the most lobes on the newest growth, and entire leafs on the oldest. Perhaps when adjusting to the photoperiod, the hormones are a bit jumbled up. Looks like a healthy plant otherwise, and personally I wish I had one like that for my outdoor pharm. Good luck!
