Our energy is passed onto the next living creature. This is not proven in any way shape or form. While energy cant be destroyed, the matter that contains the energy can. Our "energy" only makes up a small part of our matter.

What other holes are there?

What do I need to back up? I'm asking questions, I'm not telling facts. Ok, your correct here, you werent saying it was fact.

So why is it ok for you to ask me "why bother with anything?" but not vice versa? I do believe we are here for a reason even if it is unknown. you are the one that said you feel the "why bother"

Do you understand why people ask questions? I may not answer for everyone, but I ask questions to discover new things. So I asked questions. That means I agree with you about learning the answers to my questions. I was just asking to see people insight on my questions....not the bitching you displayed. If you read anything as me "bitching" , then thats your feelings. Yes i understand why people ask questions.lol. Knowledge. Your question was (yet again) why bother. I didnt say anything other than if you really feel that way, then why bother.

Do you care to answer any of my questions? If the answer is no, then why are you here? Again, i feel its for a reason that the universe and the life in it is for a purpose, albeit unknown.

I'm not sure what set you off (lol), but why are you telling me about people's mindset on arguing and not hearing the other persons side? I will listen to somebody that actually has something to say (unlike you). I heard you, and yet again, if you strongly feel and agree with whom evers writings you were quoting, and we all reach the inevitable outcome of death, and what we do doesnt matter, then why bother doing anyhthing. I continue to do, cause i want to. I like eating, living, loving, being loved. Its what makes humans, human.

Why would I kill myself when you just finished saying we should figure out the point of life? I never said kill yourself. It can be construed that way, but if your truly beleive in the "why bother syndrome" then try those things (breathing eating), you will see a "oh thats why I bother".

What was the point of your post? Just answering my thoughts. As a thinking being, that feels the need to bother.

Why do you even have the slightest sliver of thought we are here for a reason? With all being said as to there not being any reason for anything to exisit, but yet we do, then that in itself means there is some purpose. Not saying its for anyones benifit, hell, we could all be just a random plaything, or maybe a macroverse in some other beings box of trinkets.

Oh and stop being so grumpy lol.
Being grumpy is my thing.lol.

Cool, that's what I wanted from the beginning.

I really like your insight.... You know what? Here's some rep for the post.

Oh and I have no argument against your post simply because there is nothing to argue about.

Thanks.

The only reason i didnt go into any details in the first post was, as i stated, If you truly felt the why bother, then why should I have bothered with more detail. If it really came down to why bother, then would any answer really be valid?

I will not quote the entire OP here but i wish to observe something i currently believe:
the entire concept of purpose is anthropoptic (a word I cobbled together to denote that it makes sense only from a parochially human point of view). A great deal of grousing about Humans have this fascinating talent for animism, which in more recently-developed religions has been advanced into a doctrine of a single, omnipotent and interested deity. Imo our talent for seeing/seeking purpose is a facet of this psychological trait.

To me, inquiring into the purpose of life, the universe and everything is a sublimated way of giving air to the very same part of so many of us that looks to the divine for ultimate comfort and meaning. It does seem to me, however, that nature soldiers on quite indifferent to whether or not it has purpose. I am contented to note life's success on this world. Imo the very invocation of purpose amounts to begging the question. cn

The quote the OP used is not just from an atheist, but a nihilist, as well. It's true that there is no assigned purpose to life, so what meaning does it have? The answer is any meaning we give it. Richard Dawkins often touches on this, and how it is actually very liberating and empowering to be able to ascribe one's own meaning to one's life as opposed to having one imposed upon us by some agent with its own agenda. I agree with this, it is true freedom...

...true. But do we also give it meaning with our actions - in terms of cause and effect?

Even if I asked why bother, I was looking for a reason to bother lol.

Ignorance is evident with a great lack of compassion for yourself and others, you say that your a human being, but you choose to be inhuman with ignorance, why would you live to not seek out truth of yourself?Im not advocating religion i for one dont believe in it,but life itself holds meaning unto each and every individual living it.Some have yet to discover any meaning because dissolusion of the world around them has yet to take place.

Absolutely. Our actions are the only way to give our life purpose, as opposed to only the ideals we hold. Ideals without action are useless...
Jung:

“You are a slave of what you need in your soul." - The Red Book

"Meaning makes a great many things endurable - perhaps everything. No science will ever replace myth, and myth cannot be made out of any science. For it is not that "God" is a myth, but that myth is the revelation of a divine life in man." - Memories, Dreams, and Reflections

"As far as we can discern, the sole purpose of human existence is to kindle a light in the darkness of mere being." - Memories, Dreams, Reflections

"The least of things with a meaning is worth more in life than the greatest of things without it." - Modern Man in Search of a Soul

"Where love rules, there is no will to power, and where power predominates, love is lacking. The one is the shadow of the other." - On the Psychology of the Unconscious

"All the most powerful ideas in history go back to archetypes." - The Structure of the Psyche
