I can't wait to see pics of them in your grow journal! *bounces*

BTW, why does it say "stranger" by my name, and how do I stop being a stranger?

Yeah, I would prefer not to be waterboarded if I can help it. ;)

I have a question for the outdoor growers here. I'm worried about my plants. They've gotten way more than their fair share of water. I've never watered them at all; we've just gotten torrential rains all month. The soil is soaked. I can barely lift the containers. They seem to be pretty stunted -- they're not growing tall at all. The stalks on the ones I planted in mid-May are still pretty thin. The one plant of the May 1 bunch that survived the squirrel attack is doing pretty well, I'm doing LST so I don't know exactly how tall it is but I'd guess about 8"-10". The other ones are maybe 4"-6". Is it okay if they're still this small at this point? Has the rain permanently damaged them or will they have a growth spurt next month when it's sweltering hot?

The soil I'm using has lots of coconut coir in it so I'm hoping it really will do its magic and regulate the moisture somewhat...

Hey littlebat, you stop being a stranger when your post count goes up, simple as that.

As for your plants, are they drooping and/or not growing? If so, then I'd suggest trying to protect them from a little of the rain. However, assuming the soil is letting that water through and it's not sitting inside the pot, I think they'll be fine. Mine got a whole three days of CONSTANT rain (I know, not at all what you're talking about) and actually seemed to enjoy it. I always make sure the water can flow through. If you're worried about them sitting in any standing water, for instance if any water puddles, then just raise them up on something like 2x4 boards or the like. Hell, even a pallet would do the trick nicely I think, and probably easy to find where you are. :)

Ok, it's hot and I'm a bit stinky, but I'm ready for a group hug right now.

OH! And the F-I-L and my son are BOTH gone, my husband and I have the WHOLE ENTIRE HOUSE TO OURSELVES! I'd walk around naked, but we don't have any shades or curtains in the front room. Maybe we should have a PARR-TEHHH..!!

Woooo party! Ride that motorcycle through the living room!

(Did I tell you my aunt picked a burgundy Honda for her first bike? It looks similar to yours, but then all motorcycles look kind of the same to me. I know, I know...feel free to tell me all bellydancers look the same, I deserve it.)

My plants are in regular old plastic flowerpots, the 12" ones from Home Depot. They don't have the saucer things under them and they're sitting on concrete, so the water can freely drain. I don't know if they're stunted or not. The one and only time I ever tried to grow before this, it was random bagseed, and in a totally different climate (there's a slight difference in sunshine between TX and NY.) It could just be that this strain doesn't grow as tall. That's why I'm interested to see how it does for you & Hydrotech since we're all in different climates.

And, just as importantly, different latitudes. I'm at approximately 38.4*N, and while I wouldn't have believed it before I moved up here, I can see a big difference in amount of daylight and the seasonal shifts between here and SoCal.

You're gonna have to find out what kind of Honda your aunt's riding. I got to ride a '96 ACE 1100 last weekend, and will be getting to ride a '99 ACE Tourer 1100 this week. Probably doesn't mean much to most folks, but let's just say that the difference between 750cc's and 1100cc's is felt in the seat of your pants and the bugs in your teef. Ha!

Ok, just kidding about the last bit, I use a full face helmet, no bugs in teef.

So the update is that I'm having trouble germinating the papaya also! None of them have cracked yet and they've been in a wet paper towel for three days, and they've been sitting on my stove. :-|

That is so wierd...Seamaiden a new package went out today.I just germinated the papaya just like anything else and they cracked and grew before they went into pots.Maybe we should concentrate on the connie.I have three papayas up and growing nice,so ill send fresh seeds off of these that are growing, for next year.Im going to finish off the year with the super skunk and the connie. When the s/s is done youll both get seeded presents.PEACE

Jesus.. you know, that thought crossed my mind, and then I thought, Naw... couldn't be. :? Hm.. gotta think, gotta think. Yeah, we may well have to wait til next year, it's getting late in the season, for me at least, I'm pretty sure I'm significantly farther north than you.

I'm so excited to get the Connie into the hands of others! :)

My plants got a lot of sun the last two days, which they're LOVING. I swear they've grown since yesterday. Sprinkling cayenne pepper around them seems to be doing the trick with the squirrels. Let's hope the sun stays out and they continue having a growth spurt!!

Are you germing yours yet, Seamaiden? Hydrotech, if I soaked the papaya in a cup of water sitting on the warm part of my stove for a couple of days, do you think it might help?

I always soaked mine in a mild nute sol in a napkin in a tin,at a controlled temp.Never had any problem. I dont know whats going on with them now.there only a year old so they should still grow.Got me scratchin my head.:peace:

Yes, littlebat, I've got them on the "warming pillow" in my nightstand. :)

Hydro, the irradiation thing might be an issue, but I'd have to do some research to find out first if the USPS ever does that, and if it affects seeds negatively.

The Shadow Ace's are stoopidly fast bikes, ive riden many miles on the 1100.

What's B/B?

The Connies have germed for me within 48 hours both times. All I did was the paper towel in a baggie, kept it in the kitchen cabinet for a couple of days, and I'd say about 90% of them sprouted. The papaya are still in a paper towel & baggie on a plate on the stove. I'm supposed to get my grow cab Tues (*bounces*) and I'll open them up then and see if any of them have popped.

You really should pollunate and get some seeds out of that, if they don't sell them seeds anymore. You could make a killer off of selling them. Hell if it turns out great bud, i might want a share =)

I look forward to the chance to do so as well. :) I did some Craigslisting last night. Found a couple of really NICE Magnas. One of the owners stated in his ad "THIS BIKE IS NOT FOR BEGINNERS". Also found a SWEET Aero 1100, a '98 single pin (sounds a LOT like a Harley, God those things are so unaffordable, plus if I really want one I'd have to hone my kickstarting skills). I also found another '96 ACE 1100, kept up beautifully. AND I found a '76 cafe racer, now that bike looks like fun for scootin' around these mountains, too. I am afraid that when I do get a job, I'm going to end up collecting bikes. I can't seem to help myself, I want to try so many of them ('cept sportbikes, I don't think my body will fold up that way anymore).

Alas, no 1100 for me to try out this week. The guy who was gonna buy it never decided if he wanted to shit or get off the pot, so it's probably gone now. Damn, $2,900 for a fully dressed out Tourer. Had the Hondaline EVERYTHING, hardbags, sissybar, windshield (it was hazy), lightbar. All it needed was a little work, easy peasy work at that. Enter slight bummage.
But the b/b is ok!!!!!!!Right?
It's doing GREAT! :D Hearty and hale Indica, they have no troubles. The seedlings are doing fine with my preventative applications of neem oil, though I'm going to probably try a nicotine spray on my bagseed plants that have that damned leafminer problem.
