Hey guys, how is everyone?

Well here comes the post I was always dreading I'd possibly have to make, being first grow and all.

1) I'm growing in Hydro NFT
2) PH was 6.6 for a week or so (on a timer though of 15 mins twice a day)
3) PH has been down to 5.6 - 6.0 for about a week
4) Using Ionic hydro grow nutes NOT at 7ml per litre but at 3ml per litre (which was recommended by hydro shop owner)
5) 250 hps about 16 inches away from plants. Osciliating fan also in with them.

So I have some discolouring / yellowing and a brown spot that kind of looks like a blister as it seems to have taken a small blister like spot on the fan leave. Noticed other seedlings have just started this course of action also. Small yellow discolouring spots appearing and on larger seedling some light brown blistering also.

I've just done a tank change and ph'ed the water to 5.9 (will check again in a few hours) added NO nutes for time being until I get a reply here.

Hey my man ,

i do not know anything much about the hydro game

with the yellowing i would assume n def ( but i am not sure ) since you haven't giving any nutes

maybe its time for some 1/2 strength nutes ,

like i said , i do not know how it plays out in hydro

try posting this thread in this forum and see if the hydro guys can help you out my man

Any chance of a root picture?
I would consider upping the nutes a little bit, just watch and see what happens. I always always follow the label instructions, or the on-line ones. That company put a lot of money and time in researching their product, they know it better than the local hydro shop guy. Most companies have an online calculator, which build up the nutes slowly as not to destroy the plant.
 
Wait it out with your PH in the 5.5 range. As young as they are I'd be less concerned about a deficiency and more concerned about PH lock. If your PH is too high your plants can show signs of a deficiency but it may not be caused by a lack of nutrients in your mix.

When the PH is too high your roots can absorb the nutrients but the plant cannot process them.

Check your PH daily and give it a week or two.
 
In a week if you aren't seeing any changes you may consider a repair solution. I personally have never had to use them but by all accounts the Botianicare Product works well for damage caused by PH issues and Hot Nute Mixes. Check with someone who is familiar with these products first, as I said I've never used them myself and am not an expert.
 
Can't take a root picture, roots haven't really come out the grodan cubes as of yet, I had a look under the corex covering today whilst changing out cube covers. At least there's no algae.

I have the PH at 5.9 today and put in a near enough a full shot of bloom nutes, pump running 24/7. So I guess I'll have to wait it out and see how it goes. I'll check ionics site for a calculator...

I think you're doing the right thing. My diagnosis would be that you've got some nutrient deficiencies. Store owners give good advise, but you have to take into consideration that unless you got your genetics from them, they are just giving you a ballpark number based on what they've heard or done but it's probably with a different strain maybe even in a different medium. I find that indica's take a little more, a little more often, than sativas... I'm growing in soil and I reduce my nutrient strength by at least half, but I don't think I'd do that in a hydro, or soiless medium.
 
Wow, what strain are those? Never seen such a fat leaf- even on my indicas.

Anyway, people are right- the pH was way too high, move it to 5.5 or so and wait. Plants that size should be plenty well fed with very light nutes.

Also, don't worry about a few fugly leaves. When they hit their stride, they will leave those leaves long behind. Once the plant gets a bit more size, it will power through those little problems with good pH, temp, and medium nutes.

I have hefted in the nutes to almost a full shot this time...

130ml / 20 litres water.

should have been 140ml, but I thought 130ml seemed like plenty to say the least. I'll let you guys know how it's looking in a few days. Either that or I'll be back here screaming "SOMEBODY CALL 911!!!!!,".

No hold on wait... cant phone that number lol.

the strain is DinaFem atuo haze 2nd Gen. I got the seeds free from attitude with my normal order, using them to learn in my first grow. the leaves on my large seedling are even bigger and fatter.
 
have you been spraying them with anything? i was spraying mine with light ferts and started noticing those brown spots. i started making sure to spray with pure water after the ferts to rinse the residue off. havent had any problems since. if youre not spraying them then chances are its calcium def. or a calcium lockout if youve added magnesium.

no, not sprayed them with a damn diddly thing brother. As for the calcium deficiency, yeah thats what am reckoning. Gotta wait a few days and see how my girls respond to the full whack of bloom nutes thrown at them... hopefully good. If not then I'll wander around the streets aimlessly drinking whisky out the bottle and shouting at children "about life,".
