Yellowing Cotyledons...OK or Not?

Hi All,

I've read that it's pretty normal for cotyledons to turn yellow.
Is it normal for them to go this yellow, though? Am I ok?
The reason I'm concerned it because the leaves on the first node are also a bit lighter than the upper leaves.
Should I put a little pinch of epsom salt on the top of each cup or leave them alone?

I'm going to try to troubleshoot things earlier and quicker this time around, hopefully to avoid issues before they're too late.
My plants are in a mix of living soil and earthworm castings.

Thanks.

Anyone? Pretty please? Should I transplant into larger containers with my soil mix, just to be on the safe side, or do these look ok?

I wouldn't worry about the cotyledons turning yellow and falling off, it's normal.

Now if the next set of leaves start yellowing then you've got a problem.

If you're watering more than once a day transplant to a larger pot.

What kind of light do you have on them? Wattage, etc.

Thanks, Hobbes, much appreciated. This is the grow light I've got them under.

I've been using the manufacturer's recommended settings, which has worked for me in the past. When I tried turning up the intensity earlier this week, I saw the edges of the leaves on a couple of plants start to curl up a bit, so I turned it back down right away. I'm pretty sure they're getting enough light.

I'm watering them once per day, but it's just starting to get to the point where it's not enough. You think I should transplant?

That looks like a bad ass light. Is it worth the money?

I wouldn't be able to answer that, because it's the only light I've ever owned, but a lot of growers are getting over a kg of dried bud with it.
On the website, it says 2.4g per watt has been achieved.

It is a great light, I just wouldn't know how to calculate whether it's worth the price or not.

Wow.
Nice light.
But damn $$$$

@Hobbes has ya covered.

We'd have to know your cost divided by the yield to give us $/gram. Then do the same thing with you growing with a different light figuring out the yield and cost and get a $/gram.

Another way would be to figure a total value of the harvest and see how long it takes to get a return on investment.

A great idea would be to do side by side grows and get a gram per watt and total watt figure for two or more lights.

This is something I'm interested in but don't have the facilities to do.

That's way above me, lol, but I can say that it paid for itself in my first, rookie grow, considering what I was paying from Canadian licensed producers. I was registered with WMMC, which is certified-organic, and averaged paying $12 plus taxes and shipping per gram. In my first grow ever, I harvested enough dry bud for the light to pay for itself many times over. Every time I ordered 15 grams, it was over $200 out of pocket.

I was with a producer ... can't remember the name, my bill was over $1,000 a month. I bought for 7 months then started growing again.

I figure that my last grow was worth: 737 grams x $14 a gram ($12 plus HST) = $10,318 worth of top shelf bud.

I could buy 5 lights for that, almost a year's worth of medicine.
