Yeps-CFL(946 True Watt)-25 Plant-Dj Short-Grape Krush,SSH,SourD+SCROG+Seed grow

super silvers lookin like she got mites or pH claw, not too sure. are you positive the claw isnt from pH/overwater? there might be some water sitting at the bottom of your pot, its happened to me, way before i poked holes in the soil though.

and that'll be a good experiment, are you gonna flower each completely with a separate spectrum? and if they're not clones i dont think this experiment would be valid since theres some variation in ssh, for instance i got a 9-10 week pheno which i though was weird for a heavy haze.
i would use 3/4 blue and 1/4 red spec for one, 3/4 red and 1/4 blue on the other. or even an 8:1 ratio on the specs, a tiny variety is always good for them. id also do it with the gk since those buds are nice and dense, youll really be able to tell the yield difference then.

She was where the mites started a few weeks ago.
New growth not showing any more damage so maybe over watering due to her flush I did. maybe... lol
Either way I am really really tempted to cut her today... I am kinda tired of looking at her this way and Im thinking if I cut she will be a good Head buzz which I like. I might lose a hair of yield but not really worried about that.

On the training ladys They are Clones Off SSH1 and so I think this will be awesome..
I was thinking something like 3/4 blue and 1/4 red spec for one, 3/4 red and 1/4 blue on the other
I just need to make another hood then I will set that up.

if shes a threat to the other girls, id say yes harvest her early. she'll still have trichs and everything, an early sativa can usually be pretty good, i was told if you harvest a sativa really late it can be more of a couchlock stone(i mean late by more amber hairs, yellowing leaves, etc).
nice, i cant wait to see this shit!

As soon as I started trimming her(SourD) I spotted them. Seeds. 4-11-12
I guess it makes sense.
This phenom came from a seed I found in some SourD I picked up on the cheap..
:o
IMAG2829.jpg
So here I am with what ? A Hermie right..
Yeah for me... not...lol

Ok, so now what ?

When I cut colas I was thinking they where a little more filled in than they are.
( Running a little low on Meds, so I needed to cut some for when I run out)

I have been chewing on what I should do now..

I only had a few minutes to look last night, so I am waiting for tonight and will do
a close look at all Lady's to see whats going on down low...

The Grape Krush 2 cut, shows no signs of seed.
A quick look at all Lady's and I don't see any sign of seed. ( Yet,I know, I don't really know.)

The SourD is showing a few seeds & they look well formed.
( Not a ton of seeds just one here, one there. )

I would like to let the SourD finish (seems maybe 7-10 days would be good)

The SSH looks better everyday and I'm guessing 10-14 days to finish.
Worried the SourD & SSH are right next to each other and touching.

So I wonder why no seeds on SSH if they are so well developed on SD ?

Could the SourD grow a few seeds and not Hermie the whole Room ?

My SCROG is just starting to flower and tho, on the other side of room I have finally
got really good air flow and they would pick up pollen really easy?

I would not care so much if the SSH showed a few seeds at this late stage and am glad to get more SourD seed
even though this is not the best phenom, I would want. It was still good smoke.

Could use some thoughts here from those that have care to share.

Not the end of the world and what ever happens to my grow.
I have already got some killer pictures and smokable nugs
The things I have been able to discover and see for myself and learn about first hand
have already payed me back for the time and $ I have put in so im still chillen here.
:eyesmoke:

I am leaning towards just letting things continue the way they are and go with the flow.
Final Cut the SourD in around 7-10 days.

Hoping only that the whole room wont go to seed.

I would however be really bummed If my Scrog and training Lady's went male.
That would really suck...

So I am willing to just cut the SourD down tonight if need be.

Hummm things to ponder here... what to do ?

she could have overflowered a little or just hermied but not too bad. id still use the seeds if the buds good though.

Either way it seems to have only pollinated herself and the seeds are a bonus for sure.. I really think its in this phenoms dna. but what do I know. I would expect if I grew 10 seeds that went female 6-8 would show seed.
Though she seems to be a good yielder I don't think I would chase her for breeding.
She has been lots of fun to watch grow though...

i gotta couple buds who brought hermie genes into their strains lineage, it can carry in some of the seeds but if a gene is that sacred its necessary to keep even the hermies. eventually, the strain may go back to being normal but it might take some lucky selective breeding. id keep them away from any legit strains too, they'll seed everything.

BHO set up 4-12-12

Grape Krush 2-Grow report :weed: by Yep. 4-12-12

I realize that I have not done this great phenom justice.

Gk is not a good strain to learn on if your looking for large yields in your
first few grows unless your doing micro grows then the small amount
of soil would work to your benefit.

She seems generous towards CFL and will frost if treated correctly.

looking at the dirt from her 5 gal container.

My GK2 had almost no roots beyond subsurface.
which explains lack of growth and vigor.

Looking close I realize and thinking back to GK 1 which grew 5 foot tall. in MG(which burn with slow release nuits)
It is the moss&lack of air from container that was keeping soil over watered 100% of the time.
Never giving her a chance or reason to go deep.

Lesson:

Pure Organic with top feeding would be preferred
method of growing.
Using a 60% perlite- 30%-Soil-10% moss in a smart pot / air pot with small layer of stone and perlite on bottom
of container. Small layer of guano 3/4 way down would seem to make sense.

Why ?

Less is better for Grape Krush (excluding light)
Organic soil
No nuits-
instead use top feeding a couple time though out her life cycle and plain water.
Let her go bone dry 3 out of 4 watering's.

I have read that watering her using the soaking method is the best way to water her and I now see why.
Make the roots chase the water more effectively.

If I had done this I would bet $ I would have (doubled to ten fold) my yield.

Upside- I can reuse my soil later since she never really sucked all the good stuff out.

Grape Krush 2 vs GK 1 :

Well I didn't double my yield from the first try so on that I sucked.

You can tell gk2 has much better formed and looking nugs.
Her small nugs are much denser and fewer of them.
Her smell is still fresh cut so cant really speak on that yet.
More in smoke report GK2 in a couple months.

Over all:

For me Grape Krush has been great. Forced me to think much more than my SSH and SourD.

If not for GK I would be thinking SSH & SourD soil was the bomb chit and stick with the 40%moss.

GK has also opened me to the idea that I dont need to nuit/tea mix the hell out of every strain I come across.
I dig ( kiss ) growing.

Because of her
I'm going to try organic soil in better pots instead
of hydo and $ chems. (for now-hydro,small scale later)

I'm still going to go with CFL with a 400-600w HPS for my next large grow. next winter.

Though I may not have her original genes by then. Most likely will have GK/BS seeds.

She will always be my first and my favorite...
Smoke on y'all...
Yep, peace out.

always grow organic, dont know about not giving nutes but id suggest organic compost teas, supercharge your roots with microbe colonies and give them nutes at the same time, a little guano or worm castings is great, i use a handfull for every 5 gallons of rainwater and a table spoon of blackstrap molasses.

Always great tips bro... ops I forgot to talk about molasses. lol I have just started reading up on micobe and living soil and
thinking I have tons of earthworm filled dirt in my bonsai, plants and trees collection that I bet I could havest for a lady.
Funny I have been doing awesome trees for around 10-15 years now and never bothered to read a book.. Not to mention
they are still alive.
Though I have no idea why...lol
I have taken trees 5 foot tall and thrashed there root balls on the ground till 90% dirt was gone then folded roots into really small ball the re pot into 3 inchs of soil and they are growing great 6 years later. still in 3" of soil
and are almost 6 foot tall. Ill have to post a few I guess... lol

I have some fun stuff in mind for the summer. Took a look at your ladys by the way. Great reading & looking tits..

Line up :

3 smart pots 1 gal- 2 gal- 3gal
1 wood decorative pot
1 metal red 3 gal mesh trash can
1 metal brown decorative weaved 3 gal container

My plan:

I am going to shut down for the summer after my 2nd wave is all done in 8 weeks max.

I plan on doing a little closet semi-micro grow for fun. 3 smart pots.

I have been reading about root growth and smart pot/air pot being excellent for roots.

Being cheap and just thinking it would be more fun I go and find pots that seem
to me would work just about the same as a air pot without the look.

I do plan on getting a 1 gal air pot to test over summer as well.

The 3 decorative pots are for outside bonsai mothers and testing different ideas.

Soil set up:

I took my mix :

1 bg Fox farm ocean forest
4 bags earthgrow potting soil
2 bags green mix organic blends
1 sm bg MG Organic choice Blood meal
1 sm bg MG Organic choice Bone meal
Bis ass bag of prelite
med bag of peat moss

Which has been composting outside for 2 months.
Added 2 large bags of perlite.

I also added perlite as I layered my pots.

Pots and soil:

I layered each pot the same.
1 inch of small stone and perlite mix on bottom.
small layer of soil mix.
small mixed soil/bat guano layer
Final soil main layer.

Side note on the Red trash can. I added a small upside down strainer the
see if I can get a root ball in the stone. ( useful for bonsai )

I am chewing on a few idea's here.

The large clear plastic container that they will all sit in is a Micro grow / green house Idea I came up with.

I have a 2nd identical container and will be
making it a DIY CFL light fixture/ green house top

Yep.

Good for both inside and outside or both.
( Mothers outside for summer then inside for winter as not to flower)

I might just go but a second top so as to be easier to add reflective inside though
if I add cfls to the 2 far sides rather than the top and water proof with holes for air lower
down the sides I could then add a timer to turn lights on for 2 hours
after dark during winter and would be able to keep outside year round.
No need for reflective hood.
humm...

Yep-Things to think about.

thats great, i got into the microbe teas about 2 years ago, havent wanted to switch ever since. organics have a whole different aspect than chem nutes, they actually feed the living organisms rather than feeding the plant salt based forms of the nutrient. ive been told some of the chem nutes even kill microbes, not my kinda growin. even though i do use a little bit of saltbased flower nutes for that extra push in last few weeks, i wouldnt use chem nutes for my whole season. and earthworms are the shit, you oughta make a compost pile and add them in. worm castings are really high in nitrogen, so just add the it to your top soil or water pail for a cheap source of veg nutes, they're also really good for beginning flower when shes still building new leaves and stretching. and id compost those root balls as well, you cant see it but they're living, as are the microbes on them. id compost them as soon as you clip, then water your compost with something sugary, i like molasses but i sometimes take old orange juice and give it to them, helps lower pH as well. dead leaves and branches are also good for nitrogen.
and its crazy, ive been doin this for a while too but i still learn something almost everyday, botany can teach you loads of shit(1 semester at least lol) but you learn most thing hands on.
and thanks, just took a pic today. heres the top bud, shes reverting to boring ol veg though. and i like the new pots, your roots will be loving all that oxygen they're getting.

Grape Krush 4 Shortz... 4-16-12

She is a little flower child lol
Not sure what to do with her.

The GK seed lady Died and I need to pull her tonight.

She is brown/dead yet has some seeds hanging.
Any chance these are still good ?
I'll pull and picture a little later.

Im thinking I will grow GK4 in its own pot and seed her out.
I dont have the time to grow any more after 2nd wave so I really
want Grape Krush seeds for next winters grow.

I would rather be outside in the summer.
